Greetings from Hickory Corner!
Yes, we are concerned about the Covid-19 virus, and we wonder if this will ever end. I sure hope so. Thanks to modern science, anti-viruses are being developed, and the news reported this week that the government is hoping to have a coronavirus vaccine by the end of the year. Until then we can not let our guard down and must be careful. Do what we have been told numerous times: keep your distance, wear a mask and wash your hands. Chester County has had very few cases, and hopefully, it will continue to stay that way. So as things begin to re-open, please be smart and do your part.
Chester County is grieving the loss of those involved in the fatal auto accident Saturday afternoon. Prayers and thoughts go out to their families and friends. So heartbreaking. Please pray for them as well as the young teen that survived but was injured.
I have enjoyed my daughter’s visit this past week. She brought me some flowers that we planted in pots and in an old wheelbarrow. She brought me a beautiful hanging flower bag filled with red impatiens to hang on a tree. We also stopped at Four Seasons and picked up one of my favorites, a Lantana. Lantanas are colorful and provide beautiful blooms. They are easy to take care of since they can handle the hot sun. They also attract butterflies and hummingbirds, so if you want to see these around your yard, maybe you should add a Lantana to your garden.
Is this true for you? “We may think we are nurturing our garden, but of course, it’s our garden that is really nurturing us.” – unknown. Crazy how true this is for me. There is something peaceful and relaxing about sitting on my patio or deck surrounded by colorful flowers. They just seem to be good for the soul.
Belated birthday wishes go out to my neighbor and friend, JoAnn Clayton (5/17). She celebrated her birthday with a family gathering Sunday evening at Horseshoe Lake Venue in Huron. A good time was had by all.
If you would like your birthday acknowledged in our news, please give me a call. I am still working on creating a birthday list and need your help.
Get well wishes go out to Nelson Weaver and to my friend Linda Byrd. Also, remember in prayer Arlan Porter, Walt and Ann Bennett, Richy Butler, Ronnie and Ladelle Clark, Mildred Smith, Mary Alice and Martha Autry, Ann Morrison, Bonice Martin, Peggy Whitman, Jim Ruth, W.T Roland, Peggy Lard, William Maness and Buck Burkhead. Also pray for our first responders, healthcare providers, our leaders and all those essential workers. If you would like to add or remove a name from our prayer list, please call me.
If you would like to rent the HCC center for your special event, please call Nancy Patterson at 608-1159. Please call me at 989-3315 with any news and tidbits. I would love to hear from some of our readers. Perhaps you would like to share what you have been planting or what you have been doing to keep busy. Any news would be welcomed.
Make it a great week!
