Greetings from Hickory Corner.
Father’s Day is Sunday, June 21. This is a day for celebrating and honoring fathers and father figures. If you still have your father, I hope you will spend some quality time with him by visiting or calling him on his special day. For those who have lost their fathers, I hope you will be comforted with loving memories. I still miss my dad after all these years, but I have so many wonderful memories.
A meeting has been scheduled for 7 p.m. at the Hickory Corner Community Center Thursday, June 25. All members are urged to attend this important meeting as there will be an election of new officers as well as planning for future events. Social distancing will take place. Reminder that membership dues were payable in May. If you have not renewed your annual membership, please bring it with you to the meeting, or dues can be mailed to Sarah Holmes at 720 Holmes Rd., Henderson, TN 38334. The HCCC is a place for friends and neighbors to come together for fun, food and fellowship, so come join us and get involved.
Recently, we have had several new families move into our community. Due to the pandemic, I have not been able to personally welcome you. We welcome you to our community and hope you will join us at our next HCCC event.
Wishing a Happy Birthday and a year that is blessed to Erma Lee Morris (6/26).
I really appreciate my neighbors, William and Eddie Luttrell, stopping and picking up my garbage on Saturday morning as they were on their way to the garbage dump. It was a busy day for me, as I was getting company in the afternoon from Illinois and sure appreciated one less job to do. Later in the week, William and Eddie received an assortment of desserts for their kindness.
I received another random of act of kindness Saturday. My niece Susan Shirall brought me a homemade strawberry cake since I was having company from Illinois. It was so sweet of her to think of me, and oh my, was it delicious! I enjoyed visiting with Susan and her mom Ann (my sister-in-law). Thank you, Susan.
Our community extends sympathy to the family of William Maness. William will be greatly missed in our Hickory Corner Community. Also, we extend sympathy to the family of Kenneth Kitchen and to all others who have lost loved ones. On our prayer list: Arlan Porter, Walt and Ann Bennett, Richy Butler, Ronnie and Ladelle Clark, Mildred Smith, Mary Alice and Martha Autry, Ann Morrison, Bonice Martin, Peggy Whitman, Jim Ruth, W.T Roland, Peggy Lard and Buck Burkhead. If you would like to add or remove a name from our prayer list, please call me.
If you would like to rent the HCC center for your special event, please call Nancy Patterson at 608-1159. Please call me at 989-3315 with any news and tidbits. I would love to hear from some of our readers.
Make it a great week.
