God Bless America. I hope you all took time to honor our Veterans this week. Veterans Day is a time to show our respect and honor all those who have served in the military. Veterans have left their families, friends and way of life to make us safe. If you personally know a veteran, I ask that you reach out to them this week and thank them for their service. Even if you see someone that is a veteran that you do not know, stop and thank them.
Jeopardy’s Alex Trebec passed away Nov. 8, 2020. He was host of Jeopardy for 37 years. When asked what he wanted his legacy to be he said, “A nice man, helped people through his charity work, was kind to everybody he encountered, enjoyed making someone laugh. Laughter is one of the greatest cures we could possibly have. It’s right up there with prayer, believe me.” Sounds like a good legacy to me.
I have enjoyed my son Greg’s visit. He has been busy while here, trying to keep up with falling leaves as I have lots of trees around my house. But it was not all work and no play. We also had some fun times. One day, we enjoyed a picnic in downtown Henderson at the Wi-Fi park. Chow wagon catered. Another afternoon, we went to a farm outside of Pinson and picked mustard greens and bought sweet potatoes. Greg and I both enjoyed our fresh greens for dinner.
My lab Ruger has been climbing over the kennel fence again. Greg has repaired the fence, so, hopefully, he will not be getting out anymore. I guess Ruger is still missing his friend, Buddy. Greg let Ruger out each day he was here to hang with him. Also, he took Ruger swimming in the pond and visited Buddy’s grave. I think he is feeling better. No matter what we are feeling or what is going on in our lives, our pets love us and are always happy to see us. It seems like when I talk to Ruger and spend time with him he is very happy.
Our community extends sympathy to the family of Earl Clayton, a lifelong resident of Hickory Corner. Earl passed away on Nov. 3. He will be greatly missed by his many friends in the Hickory Corner community.
