Greetings from Hickory Corner!
I hope everyone stayed safe during the winter blast last week. I think we got around nine inches of snow out here. There were so many birds hanging around my feeders. The red cardinals were so pretty against the snow. I was not able to get out to put birdseed in the feeders, but I did throw some out onto the packed snow from my deck. Word travels fast because each day the crowd grew. I even had a few crows show up.
Because of the cold weather, Ruger, my lab, moved on up to the big house. He spent seven days in my heated garage. He was a good boy, and I let him go in and out several times during the day. He was always ready to come back into the warmth. However, he did seem happy to get back into his kennel once our warm weather returned. Please always think of your pets in the cold weather and keep them safe.
Thank you to those who called and checked on me during our snow storm. I appreciate you thinking of me. Luckily, I stocked up on food beforehand.
With being stuck inside for a week, I decided I would take a trip down memory lane by looking through old photo albums of loved ones and listening to old cassette trips. I listened to my daddy singing Jimmy Roger songs, my sister Mildred and I doing a make believe radio program over 35 years ago and James’s sisters, Veda and Arvie, chatting away when they visited us in 1967 in Illinois. Also, I listened to my first two grandsons when they were little laughing and telling stories. I still have several cassettes to listen to. Oh the memories, how they linger. How did you keep busy while being stuck at home? Call me!
Congratulations to Bryan and Shelby Locke on the birth of their precious daughter, Scout Lee, born Saturday, Feb. 6, weighing seven pounds, 13 ounces. Mom and baby are doing fine. Grandparents are Lucy Locke and Beau Locke and Debra and Mike Mercer.
