Greetings from Hickory Corner!
Congratulations to all the Chester County High School graduates. All your hard work has paid off! Best wishes on whatever you decide your next adventure in life will be. “Be the change you wish to see in the world.” – Mahatma Gandhi
JoAnn Clayton celebrated her birthday this past Sunday, May 16, at her home with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. There was quite a crowd at her house, a total of 55! Lots of kids running around and playing outside. What a blessing to be surrounded by all your family.
Sarah Holmes reports a big, black, male dog wearing an orange and black collar with no tags has been hanging out around her home. If this is your dog, please call Sarah at 989-7959.
Members, mark your calendar: There will be a meeting at the HCC Center at 7 p.m. on June 3 with the election of officers being held that evening. Members will also be discussing plans for homecoming which will start at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 19. Plans are to have a meal, cake walk and silent auction. More information on this will be coming later. We have had several new families move into the community. We welcome all of you to our activities at the center. Also, if anyone is interested in becoming a member of the center, you are welcome at the meeting.

Driving through town this past Friday, I noticed a large crowd gathering downtown at the Sue Shelton White Park. I wondered what was going on and later on the news saw that it was a dedication honoring Eddie Arnold. I checked it out on Monday and saw the marker as well as the guitar made of recycled metal pipes. It really is a neat sculpture and a nice tribute to Eddie Arnold. Shout out to the Chester County High School students who worked on the sculpture. Go check it out! Eddie Arnold was one of my favorite country singers, especially with him being from Chester County. I have heard that he used to walk to town and sit by the overhead bridge to play his guitar and sing. My favorite song of his is “Make the World Go Away” (1965). Did you know Eddie Arnold was the first recipient of the Country Music Association’s Entertainer of the Year in 1967 (Country Music Hall of Fame. org)?
