Greetings from Hickory Corner!
Hickory Corner Community homecoming starts at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 19. There will be barbeque plates, hot dogs, a cakewalk, a cake auction, a silent auction and entertainment. Donations of cakes for the cakewalk and items for the silent auction are needed. Antique classic tractors will be on display. Everyone is invited to come out and enjoy the day. This is our first event in over a year, and we are hoping for a good turnout.
Membership dues to the Hickory Corner Community Center were due in May. We would love to have all our members back and hopefully gain some new members. If you have not renewed your membership, please mail your dues to Sarah Holmes at 720 Holmes Road, Henderson TN 38340. We have a wonderful center, and it is a great place to fellowship with friends and neighbors.
JoAnn Clayton and her daughter Patricia Jones attended Country Star John Conlee’s show Saturday night at Williams Auditorium in Henderson. Of course, he sang a favorite, “Rose Colored Glasses.” JoAnn said that they enjoyed the show.
Congratulations to Jeremy and Melissa Stoltzfus on the birth of their sweet baby boy, Beckham James, born May 27. Grandparents are David and Joan Stolttzfus and Francisco and Mary Espinal. I did get to visit and meet baby Beckham, and he sure is a cutie.
Remember in prayer Arlan Porter, Ann Bennett, Richy Butler, Ladelle Clark, Mildred Smith, Martha Autry, Ann Morrison, Bonice Martin, Peggy Whitman, Peggy Lard, William and Eddie Luttrell and Donna Lynch. Please continue to pray for all those who are dealing with sickness and those who have lost loved ones. If you would like to add or remove a name to our prayer list, please call me.
The community sends sympathy to the family of W. T. Roland who passed away June 7. W. T. is my brother-in-law (married to James’ sister Ellna) and a wonderful man who will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Sympathy also to the family of J.C. Patterson of Burns who passed away May 27. J.C. was raised in Hickory Corner, the son of the late Arnold and Sula Patterson. He is survived by sons, Darrell and Lynn, brother Wayne Patterson and sister Lucille Locke. He was preceded in death by his wife Ann and brother James Alvin Patterson.
Sympathy to the family of Jim Ruth of Brighton. Jim passed away June 2. Many of the community writers will miss Jim’s frequent phone calls. He was always up for a good conversation.
If you would like to rent the HCC Center for your special event, please call Nancy Patterson at 608-1159.
Folks, this is your column. Please call me at 989-3315 with tidbits, birthdays and anniversaries or anything you would like to share with us.
Make it a great week!
