Hello to all!
I hope it has been a good week for everyone, although I know there are some who have sadness through the loss of a loved one this past week. I am very sorry for your loss. I pray for God’s comfort and peace of mind now and in the days ahead.
As we all know, it was HOT this weekend! It was 92 degrees on Saturday with a heat index of 102 – whew! I told James I could tolerate this heat for a while because sugar melts, and I am mighty sweet – lol. Easier way to lose weight. Our flowers are doing well. This is our first year with salvia and mostly impatiens in pots. The white daisies my sister gave me are very happy. My hydrangeas are blue but some are purple and a few actually have a reddish cast. I wonder if it is the heat and humidity. We have a hen and five baby turkeys (poults) in our backyard now, and we have been blessed to see a doe and two fawns in the back also. I just LOVE wildlife! We could only go one week on our mowing this week. Our blackberries have been plentiful -yum.
I went with my sister to Hurricane Primitive Baptist Church Saturday. It was their annual meeting. Everyone was very friendly as usual, and the preaching was good. I enjoyed sitting with my sister and hearing her sing. She has a lovely voice, is a pretty lady and is dedicated to the Lord, and I am so blessed to still have her after the horrible cancer battle she had. We both know that God, faith and prayer is the answer.
Friendship Baptist Church will have a potluck meal after the morning service Sunday, Aug. 1, to welcome Bro. Glenn Harris as pastor and Bro. Bryan McMorris as our music director. You are invited to come and worship with us and enjoy a meal and fellowship afterwards.
Mifflin Baptist Church, Hwy 200, will have homecoming at 11 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 8. TRUE WITNESS will be singing. There will be a potluck meal around noon. Everyone is invited to worship with them and enjoy good gospel singing. Pastor is Rev. Larry Rose, 989-0300.
School starts soon. I am very concerned for everyone, but I do feel like the schools should go back to in school teaching. I do not know about the vaccine for teenagers, but I would want my child to wear a mask and have antibacterial hand cleaner. Also, I think the schools should be cleaned daily using CDC protocol. I am just one person, and we all have our own opinions on this. Praying for God’s protection over all as this new variant is on the upswing.
Happy birthday to Tiffany Knipper, 7-25; Boyd Cupples, 7-26; Jordan Ross, 7-27; Nancy Parker and Cody Butler, 7-30; and Cissy Nichols and Dylan King, 7-31.
Happy anniversary to Tiffany and Jonathan Knipper, 7-29.
Please continue to remember these in prayer Randy Baker, Charlie Beecham, Sheila Berry, Charlie Brewer, Robert and Joyce Brewer, J.T. Butler, Jackie Chambers, Walter Cooper, Nancy McCaskill, LaVelle Page, Pam Priddy, Jesse Pugh, Logan Rencher, Randy Sells, Dalton Seratt, David Tucker, Tony Tucker, Adam Wise, Mark Pica, Clarence Wells and the family of Mr. Jerry Bain.
Also, please pray for our military and law enforcement, our country and its leaders, those affected by COVID and first responders There are many sick and hurting. Please say a prayer for those; even if you do not know their name, God does. Prayer is not an obligation; it is the greatest privilege we have. Pray yourself through each day.
It is easy to see God at work in our life when prayers are answered, doors are opened and everything is falling into place. But, what about in the silent moments? What about the times when prayers are delayed, doors remain shut and it feels as though everything is falling apart? What about the times when God doesn’t seem to be moving? Even though God is there, and God is at work, never forget – God is in the waiting, too.
I pray you all have a wonderful week, and may it be filled with love, joy, peace and blessings. Remember: if you have news, please email me at mimmiepots@gmail.com. I would truly appreciate any news. People from here and those who have moved from our area but still want to keep in touch through the newspaper are hungry for news from home.

Until next week, Happy Trails to You.
