Hello to all from this little corner of the world. The Sunday temperature was 50 degrees, and the sky was a beautiful blue with clouds that were swirls of whitish-gray. The birds are happy and enjoying the sunflower seeds. We have a rose-breasted grosbeak now. It has been a while since we have seen one. They are very pretty. We have lots of yellow finches and have had the indigo blue birds also. James’ special bird is a yellow warbler. It has the sweetest song. We have wrens and also a white throated sparrow. Our trees (forest) have filled in all around our backyard now, and that is our fence. Pepper, our little poodle, never goes that far anyway, but he gives it his best when he chases a squirrel.
We enjoyed another trip to Southaven, Miss., again to visit a friend from high school and took another school friend with us. We all went to school together years ago. We left a little later than expected, and the traffic was terrible. I-240 was the worst. I think there are about five lanes, and there were cars behind me as far as I could see, and I tried to see ahead enough to be in the right lane to get off on ramps. Praise God we made it home okay. There are speed limit signs posted, but they really do not exist.
We had a wonderful service at Friendship Baptist Sunday morning. The sermon was great, and the music was very moving. I am so very thankful I know the Lord, and He has me in the palm of His hand. What a wonderful, hallelujah, shouting feeling. Everyday is a blessing, and we should be thankful.
Happy birthday wishes go to to Aaron (Radar) Williams, 4-26; Beverly Butler, 4-28; and Frances Carroll and Kim Carroll, 4-29.
Happy anniversary wishes go to Marla and Kevin Davidson, 4-27.
Condolences go to Jeff Weir and family on the loss of his dad. Pray for now and the days ahead. God bless. Please continue to remember these in prayer: Sheila Berry, Joe Bingham, Marie Bishop, Robert Brewer, Shannon Burton, Jackie Chambers, Rickey Clayton, James Ellis, Nathan Frost, Jennifer Gateley, Shorty Harris, Johnny Hays, Shirley Kendrick, Sue Lewis, Janeane Moore, Deana Morris, Cissy Nichols, LaVelle Page, Julia Parchman, Beth Plunk, Pam Priddy, Jesse Pugh, Tenisha Pursell, Karon Reinmann, Logan Rencher, Todd Rencher, Jake Richardson, Cathy Sisson, Jacob Thomas, Kevin Thurman, David Tucker, Tony Tucker, Charlie Wells and Adam Wise. Cracked Out 7-up Biscuits – you will need 2 cups Bisquick, 1/2 cups sour cream, 1 1/2 tablespoons dry ranch dressing mix, 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese, 3 strips cooked, chopped bacon, 1/2 cup 7-up and 1/4 cup melted butter. Preheat oven to 450 degrees F. In a medium bowl combine Bisquick, sour cream, ranch, cheese and bacon. Stir in 7-up. Stir just until combined. This makes very soft dough. Sprinkle additional biscuit mix on board or table and pat dough out. Cut with a 2 1/2 inch round biscuit cutter. Melt 1/4 cup butter in a 9-inch square pan. Place cut biscuits in pan. Bake for 12-15 min. or until golden brown. You can substitute with Sprite or any lemon-lime soda.
I pray you all have a wonderful week and may it be filled with love, joy, peace and blessings. Remember: if you have news, please email me at mimmiepots@gmail.com. I would truly appreciate any news. People from here and those who have moved from our area but still want to keep in touch through the newspaper are hungry for news from home.
Until next week, Happy Trails to You.
