Hello everyone! Saturday was a cool and dreary day to me. I know we have to take the good with the bad, but I sure love Mr. Sunshine.
Our “traveling angels” were so very good to us, and we were able to get the “yard” mowed for the last time (I hope) this year. James is now trimming bushes. He has wanted to cut a few down, and I have given in. I think it will still be pretty, but the truth is that, unless you can afford to have them trimmed or yard work done, there comes a time when we have to face changes. We are not going to get any younger, and, hopefully, our health will hold up, but we will have to revisit this situation again come spring/summer. I also will be so glad to see my birds again.
We attended the graveside service for a relative’s son last week, and now the Emmett Maness family has lost a sister. Mary “Laverne” Maness Blair passed away Friday, Oct. 18, in Michigan. She has five children, 12 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. Her surviving siblings are Kathryn, Alice, Barbara and Janice. They were a family of 11 children born to Emmett and Esther Maness.
Well, it is back to the books and reality. School will have resumed by the time this comes out, and now most everyone will be waiting for Thanksgiving break. It will be here before you know it.
Here is a short recipe I enjoyed this week – Cut up one cabbage. Brown one pound or more of ground beef with onion and drain. Layer the cabbage, ground beef, cabbage and top with one can tomato soup. Cook for one hour at 350 degrees. This was delicious.
Happy birthday to Kathey Dyer, Oct. 20; Ty Dyer, Oct. 22; J.T. Butler, Oct. 24; Haylee Criswell, Oct. 25; and Lee Nell King, Oct. 26
Happy anniversary to Dana and Jamie Berry, Oct. 23.
Please continue to remember these in prayer: Lynn Allen, Jerry Bain, Charlie Brewer, David Brewer, Janis Brewer, Kay Burton and family, Leon Carroll, Jackie Chambers, Billy Dickson, James Ellis, Bro. Glenn and Judy Harris, Eddie Hill, Danny Jones, Lee Nell King, Billy Frank Latham, Sarah McLemore, Nancy McCaskill, Pam Priddy, James Reddin, Dalton Seratt, Adam Wise and Trey Young. Also, please pray for our military, law enforcement, our country and its leaders, and first responders. There are many sick and hurting. Please say a prayer for those. Even if you do not know their name, God does.
“Dear Night” by Diane Ranker Riesen – “Dear Night, be ever gentle, ever cautious, ever sweet/for many suffer loneliness…each night they must repeat/While most can share this peaceful time and hold their loved ones near/they must share just memories of the ones they held so dear/Cushion those who lay awake and struggle for relief/send some thoughts of hope to all who suffer much from grief/For ‘night time’ seems much lonelier – the darkness seems so bleak/I pray that God will send each one some joy they can keep/No one’s ever quite prepared to be left on their own/decisions show up everywhere and so much is unknown/I send a wish to everyone – that they take time tonight/to pray for those who are alone – it’s such an unknown fight/May countless stars shine just for them…may moonbeams light their room/and may sweet memories come to mind as tired time comes soon/What a wonderful release for them to have a hundred dreams/share with all their loved ones – wondrous moments, perfect scenes.”
I pray you all have a wonderful week, and may it be filled with love, joy, peace and blessings. Remember: if you have news, please call me at 983-0718 or email mimmiepots@gmail.com. I would truly appreciate any news. People from here and those who have moved from our area are hungry for news from home.

Until next week, Happy Trails to You.
