Hello to all! The skies were a light gray on Sunday, and alas, there was no sunshine or breeze. It appears we are in for some colder weather this week. The wind chills could get down to the teens early in the week with daytime temperatures expected to be in the mid-40s, and nighttime temperatures will be mostly from the upper 20s to mid-30s. Can you believe it? There is a 40 percent chance of snow Friday?
Well, we are in December. Hopefully, we will begin to see our winter birds returning soon. James and I, along with Jeremy, Misti, Braelyn, Braxton, Lakin and Andrew, enjoyed a Thanksgiving meal with my sister and her two boys, daughter-in-law and granddaughter. We socially distanced. Some windows were opened for ventilation. Gloves were available to serve yourself, and we wore masks when not eating.
Well, Thanksgiving is over officially, but we should remain thankful EVERY day. I hope each of you had a good time over this holiday. Many, I am sure, visited with relatives; some shopped for bargains either online or in person; others stayed home and felt safer doing that; and many enjoyed an extra day or two off work. Now, it is back to normal if there is much normal to be had. COVID-19, along with the media, seems to be ruling many lives. If we listen to the news, it can scare many to the point of isolation, and others seem to throw caution to the wind and “live.” The decision is up to each individual, although many times our choices affect others. The spread of this virus seems unmanageable, and our main alternative is a vaccine. Whatever you do in your life, I pray you and yours stay safe, and hopefully, this next year will improve.
As cold weather is on its way, be sure and close vents under the house, disconnect water hoses and drains, wrap outside pipes, check air pressure in your tires and check all fluids in your car. Also, be sure and have fresh water for your outside pets and put some straw or something in their house for warmth. Look for your winter gloves now. Pray for the homeless.
Happy birthday to Tessa Hinson, 12-2; Garrett Chalk and Kirk Bray, 12-3; and Damon Newman, 12-6.
Happy anniversary to Vickie and James Ellis, 12-6.
Please continue to remember these in prayer Lynn Allen, Denise Armstrong, Brinson Biggs, Sheila Berry, Charlie Brewer, David Brewer, Kimberly Carroll, Diane Cross, Kristen Daniel and family, Danny Jones, Nancy McCaskill, LaVelle Page, Pam Priddy, Donald and Doris Rowlett, Jim Ruth, Dwain Seaton, Jr., Paulette Sells, Dalton Seratt, Kenny Stevens, Kristi Taylor, Peggy Zimmerle, the Kim Mitchell, Garrick Sells and Marcus Kelley families. Also, please pray for our military and law enforcement, our country and its leaders, those affected by the virus and first responders. There are many sick and hurting. Please say a prayer for those; even if you do not know their name, God does.
“My Holiday Wish” by Diane Ranker Riesen – “As Holidays begin again – it’s time for me to pray/each year I say the same thing but I’m going to start today/The moment that I lost my child…my world was rearranged/I used to love the Holidays but then my heart was changed/Everyone just stayed the same and ‘joy’ seemed everywhere/I knew I had such blessings but inside I didn’t care/Lord, how could You allow this world to take my child away/You could have waved a simple Hand – but he didn’t get to stay/I walk the stores in silence – I pretend with my fake smile/while everyone’s rejoicing and season’s songs play all the while/No one really notices…as they whisk by hand in hand/I know it’s not their fault at all – they just don’t understand/So right now Lord, I’ll hit my knees and close my eyes in prayer/and ask Your Mighty Power – to heal my heart with care/This grief is overwhelming and I can’t get through alone/I know You knew how this would hurt – I know You’ve always known/So this is where I bow to You – and trust Your Majesty/There’s a reason I can’t comprehend why my child is not with me/Yet, as I kneel here on the floor – I give my pain to You/and trust the truth that You are King…and You will get me through/Infuse Your Joy into my soul – I promise I will try/to feel the blessings I have now…to smile more than I cry/Take good care of my child I’ve lost – what glories he must feel/Our earthly time is very short…ETERNITY IS REAL!!!!!”
I pray you all have a wonderful week, and may it be filled with love, joy, peace and blessings. Remember: if you have news, please email me at mimmiepots@gmail.com. I would truly appreciate any news. People from here and those who have moved from our area but still want to keep in touch through the newspaper are hungry for news from home.

Until next week, Happy Trails to You.
