Hello to everyone! I hope you had a good week. The skies were a light gray with no breeze, and the temperature was 44 degrees on Sunday. We got some rain in evening into the night and are supposed to get more several mornings this next week with the lows predicted to be in the 20s. Rain is not expected again until next Saturday. You know how the weather is in the south. It can change at the drop of a hat.
We went with another couple to the Dicken’s Christmas on the square in Covington. The trip was nice, but we were not impressed. We saw two-three children dressed in period time; others were waiting in line for carriage rides, and we went to eat at a cafe on the square. It was closing at 2 p.m., but the gathering was until 4 p.m., I think. We left and went to a restaurant to eat. Not many eating out with this virus. We wore our mask, socially distanced and used antibacterial gel or washed our hands. We ended the day with a trip to see the Christmas lights at Chickasaw. They were very pretty, and I am very glad the rain held off after all the planning and work it took to pull it off. Thanks to everyone for their part in helping bring joy to many looking for something pretty or joyful during this sad time in our country and the world.
A compliment was paid to our town. The remark was made that our Christmas decorations and lights in town were prettier than any they had seen. I agree; our decorations and lights are very pretty.
Happy birthday to Lauren Johnson, 12-15, and Derrith Cooper and Ann Hinson, 12-20.
Happy anniversary to Charlotte and John Webb, 12-17.
Please continue to remember these in prayer Lynn Allen, Denise Armstrong, Brinson Biggs, Sheila Berry, Charlie Brewer, David Brewer, Kimberly Carroll, Brandon Connor, Diane Cross, Kristen Daniel and family, Billy and Vicki Dickson, Danny Jones, Nancy McCaskill, LaVelle Page, Pam Priddy, Donald and Doris Rowlett, Jim Ruth, Dwain Seaton, Jr., Paulette Sells, Dalton Seratt, Kenny Stevens, Kristi Taylor, Peggy Zimmerle and those who have lost loved ones. Also, please pray for our military, law enforcement, our country and its leaders, those affected by the virus and first responders. There are many sick and hurting. Please say a prayer for those; even if you do not know their name, God does.
“Live your life with intention and know that every choice you make, good or bad, affects so many others…not just you. God expects us to falter because we aren’t perfect. He also expects us to live our lives so that people can see Him through us. Be kind. Be loving. Be generous. Don’t be selfish, don’t be vindictive. Ask for forgiveness, say you’re sorry when you do something wrong or hurt someone…even if it was an accident. Forgive…even when you are hurt.” – unknown
“One Holy Night” by Diane Ranker Riesen – “Once upon a darkened night/a donkey followed God’s soft light/and when they came to Bethlehem/they found there was no place for them/A weary mother with great peace/knew Joseph would find her release/and lo’ all rooms were occupied/our Father had a place in mind/Our King of Kings…our prince of peace/deserved the best – no room of beasts/and yet our Savior Christ was born/in an old stable – cold and worn/This Holy babe who’d save our sins/lay in a manger – not an inn/What glorious fate this child would live/a precious miracle He would give/We need to sing in joyous praise/and honor Christ for all our days/for He was born in lowly means/to grow…and then become our King.”
I pray you all have a wonderful week, and may it be filled with love, joy, peace and blessings. Remember: if you have news, please email me at mimmiepots@gmail.com. I would truly appreciate any news. People from here and those who have moved from our area but still want to keep in touch through the newspaper are hungry for news from home.
Until next week, Happy Trails to You.
