Hello to everyone!  Again I hope it has been a good week for all.  It was 30 degrees, and the skies were gray on Sunday.
We have a tube feeder on the back deck that the yellow and red finches love.  I think we will get one more to make them happy, but I do not know if we can afford to feed them.  They love this seed.  We got the seed at Lowes, and it is by the Audubon company.  It says very little waste, and that is true. It is a mixture of seeds.  Sunflower seeds are in our large feeder. The next 10 days the highs should be upper 40s to mid 50s, and there is not much precipitation mentioned.  I just know I look forward to a sunny day, cold or not.
Rachel Ellington spent the holidays with her daughter Sherry and family of Scottsboro, Ala.  Marla, Kevin and Kendyl Davidson along with Brooklynn Walls joined them on 12-26 for the holidays.  Kevin, Marla and Kendyl have moved into the Mifflin community. Kendyl has made the High Honors Roll list from Martin University. Way to go, Kendyl!
Thanks to Patsy Nobles Jones for all the hard work and love that went into the “Wings of a Dove” remembrance published last week.  I am sorry there were so many that lost loved ones last year and pray for God’s guidance, strength and hope for you all.  She does this as a labor of love.  Also, thanks to Don Jones for being her assistant. I do not know who would carry this on when she is not able to do it any longer.
This past week was one of unrest in our country, and I am not going to be political here.  There is no reason to cast blame on any one person or party because there was a mixture of people at the capitol.  I hope that everyone is praying for God’s mercy on us and our country.  Pray that we can work together for the good of our people.  I never in my life would have thought people in our country would have gone to this extent to not even act like they were raised.  It was totally shocking!  I guess no one cares if their face is shown on national television.  It seems they do not care what mama or daddy would think about their behavior.  I know I have not been and never will be perfect, but I was raised to know there are consequences for our actions and we all have choices.  I am not judging those who participated, but it caused more harm than good. We all have different opinions, and I have said all the time God knows the plans He has for us, and He has the final say.  He is in complete charge. PRAY!
Happy birthday to Joseph Gladish, 1-11; James Webb and Eva Jones, 1-13; and Carolyn Whitley, 1-18.
Please continue to remember these in prayer Lynn Allen, Randy Baker, Denise Armstrong, Sheila Berry, Charlie Brewer, David Brewer, Diane Cross, Misti Ellis, Danny Jones, Nancy McCaskill, LaVelle Page, Pam Priddy, Jim Ruth, Paulette Sells, Dalton Seratt, Kenny Stevens, Kristi Taylor, Nancy B. Taylor and Peggy Zimmerle. Also, please pray for our military, law enforcement, our country and its leaders, those affected by COVID and first responders.  There are many sick and hurting. Say a prayer for those; even if you do not know their name, God does.
“We Are America” by Diane Ranker Riesen – “Our mighty land of hopes and truths; built strong upon a people’s dream/Will rise above these darkened clouds – will sing above the thundering scream/With all our strength, we will not fall…we shall not lay down – lost and done/for we will stand against this force; and in the end, will overcome/We Are America/We shall not flinch at our demise; nor end our dreams amidst the cries/We shall endure despite the loss – to wave our flags, at any cost/Within these dark, unchartered days; our souls will wash away the stain/A rebirth shall embrace our land…and we will be made ‘whole’ again/We Are America/We each shall mourn; and mourn we must – this time engulfed with days unjust/But, then those tears will clear our view…to see a future, fresh and new/We, the people, stand as one…our country built on love/No outward foe can crush us – we are held by ‘Him’ above/We Are America.”
I pray you all have a wonderful week, and may it be filled with love, joy, peace and blessings. Remember: if you have news, please email me at mimmiepots@gmail.com. I would truly appreciate any news. People from here and those who have moved from our area but still want to keep in touch through the newspaper are hungry for news from home. Until next week, Happy Trails to You.
