Good day to everyone! The temperate Sunday was 48 degrees. The skies were a beautiful blue with puffy white-gray clouds, and the sun was shining. The sun makes most of us very happy or at least feel better. Sometimes, when I wake up in the morning, I say, “Hello, Mr. Sunshine, I am so happy to see you today.” It may seem like silliness, but why be serious all the time? I like to try and perk up as much as possible. I try to be thankful for another day and know that God is with me regardless of circumstances. He is with you, too. We got another tube feeder, and now our little finches have choices. By the way, the tube feeder we got that was inexpensive was from Walmart.
Great news from Mifflin! Mifflin Baptist Church received two members by baptism Sunday, Jan. 17. They welcomed Freddie Stutts and his daughter Tessie Smith. This will be the first baptism in 13 years at their church. The preacher is Bro. Larry Rose. This information was relayed to me through a member there. This was happy news, and I know it will be the best decision they ever made. God bless you all.
On Wednesday, our country swore in a new president. It may not be who everyone wants, but we must know and should have known all along that God is in charge. He has reasons for everything. We must carry on as best we can and pray for our country. Pray for God’s will and strength to do His will regardless of what lies ahead. God is ALWAYS working! “Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.” – Isaiah 41:10
Happy birthday to Carolyn Whitley, 1-18; Billy Neal Priddy, 1-20; Arlene Hill and Nicki Bray, 1-21; Kenneth Williams and Walter Willis, 1-23; and James Ellis, 1-24.
Please continue to remember these in prayer Lynn Allen, Randy Baker, Denise Armstrong, Sheila Berry, Charlie Brewer, David Brewer, Diane Cross, Braelyn Ellis, Misti Ellis, Danny Jones, Nancy McCaskill, LaVelle Page, Pam Priddy, Jerry Rogers, Jim Ruth, Paulette Sells, Dalton Seratt, Kenny Stevens, Kristi Taylor, Nancy B. Taylor and Laiken White. Also, please pray for our military, law enforcement, our country and its leaders, those affected by COVID and first responders. There are many sick and hurting. Please say a prayer for those; even if you do not know their name, God does.
“Unlock the Chains” by Diane Ranker Riesen – “I’ve learned a lot of lessons in my life throughout the years/I’ve seen such beauty in our world and also cried some tears/it’s taken me a long time though to learn this certain one/it locked me up in chains for years but now I know it’s done/When someone tries to steal your joy – and make you lose your song/You have to find your peace back…cause you were never wrong/I chained myself for many years and tried to keep the peace/but sometimes others are involved and you can’t get release/If in your soul you’ve done what’s right and know God agrees/you have the right to stop the pain and give yourself relief/Everybody makes mistakes and I’ve sure made my own/but I’ve always tried to own them and offer ‘sorrow’ shown/yet there are times when others just can’t seem to claim their wrongs/and that is when God lets us ‘distance’ – so we can stay strong/For those of you who suffer from a ‘blame’ you don’t deserve/just let it go – release the cause – our God will find a cure/Unchain yourself and live in joy – pray for everyone/for in the end we’ll all have peace – in heaven – when we’re done.”
I pray you all have a wonderful week, and may it be filled with love, joy, peace and blessings. Remember: if you have news, please email me at mimmiepots@gmail.com. I would truly appreciate any news. People from here and those who have moved from our area but still want to keep in touch through the newspaper are hungry for news from home. Until next week, Happy Trails to You.
