Hello to everyone! I hope last week was a good one for you all. The skies are a light blue with white puffy clouds on Sunday. There is a slight breeze blowing. I am truly wondering what this weather holds next week. WBBJ shows rain off and on most of the week, but the weather channel shows it very warm with 24 percent chance or less all week. We shall see who is more accurate. The heat and rain has sure made the corn across the road pop up. We have been busy planting flowers and mowing among other things. Right now I am watching a tufted titmouse on the feeder. James keeps them fed, and binoculars are usually close by. I hope all the hard work we have been doing pays off with its beauty. I am hoping to get the deck cleared off this week. We planted a Drift rose in the front and have one in the back that is showing out. If you want a rose that is very pretty and no trouble but mounds like a bush, get one of these.
Congratulations to all the graduates! Whether it is high school or college, I know you are glad to step into the next journey of your life. Do not be in a rush to decide your desired path. It takes life and time to decide that. I know people who have started college for one thing and changed in the middle. Better to know now than to spend time and money doing something you are not happy in. I have a friend whose son became a dentist. After working a short while in it, he decided to specialize in pediatric dentistry and will graduate this June. Also, college is not for everyone. I do think it is wise to at least go to a trade school to begin life with some knowledge of your interest before making a career of it. I went to JAVTS and obtained my LPN license. It was one hard year, but I have never regretted it. Ask God for guidance on your journey in life. You will need Him many times, and He will never let You down, God bless.
Friendship Baptist will begin Sunday night services June 6. Discipleship training will be at 5:30 p.m. with evening worship at 6:30 p.m.
I think Billy Joe Seaton and his furbaby Bandit are like two brothers sometimes. BJ was holding the water hose the other day spraying water, and Bandit was leaping back and forth trying to catch the stream. I know he will enjoy this next week when the temperatures and humidity increase.
Happy Birthday to Logan Butler and Misti Ellis, 5-17; Carlis McGhee and Tina Williams, 5-18; and Zachery Priddy, 5-18. Happy anniversary to Marla and Damon Newman, 5-18.
Please continue to remember these in prayer Denise Armstrong, Sheila Berry, Monica Branch, Charlie Brewer, Robert and Joyce Brewer, J.T. and Jeanette Butler, Jackie Chambers, Janet Crame, Zack Eaton, Rachel Ellington, Alice and Buddy Stovall, Nancy McCaskill, Sarah McLemore, LaVelle Page, Pam Priddy, Donald Rowlett, Jim Ruth, Dalton Seratt, Missy Seratt, John Webb, Ann Weir, Jo Willis and Bruce Wright. Also, please pray for our military, law enforcement, our country and its leaders, those affected by COVID and first responders. There are many sick and hurting. Please say a prayer for those; even if you do not know their name, God does. Prayer is not an obligation; it is the greatest privilege we have. Pray yourself through each day.
“Only One” by Diane Ranker Riesen – “Could there be a clearer picture/Could the truth be more assured/In this torn and damaged world/so much doubt is often heard/Yet take a simple look around you/every second, minute…hour/there is proof of God’s existence/such displays of His great power/Each tiny flower speaks His name/each river flows with His great peace/every tree bows down in honor/and gives my soul such calm release/Look up at the sky each morning/the clouds move softly past/Where did all this beauty come from/Who on earth could make it last/Take one simple moment/ever quiet in your mind/You’ll know there’s power far beyond us/and in this – a sweet “faith” you’ll find/Only One with unknown power/far beyond our minds control/one can only find the answer/it is God who fills our soul.”
I pray you all have a wonderful week, and may it be filled with love, joy, peace and blessings. Remember: if you have news, please email me at mimmiepots@gmail.com. I would truly appreciate any news. People from here and those who have moved from our area but still want to keep in touch through the newspaper are hungry for news from home. Until next week, Happy Trails to You.
