Hello to everyone!
I hope you all had a good week and are not water logged. The weather forecast shows most of this week as cloudy with rain. I miss the sunshine but know rain is needed, I guess. I do know it is hard on some farmers, lawn and landscape workers, construction and roofers to name a few.
We are still enjoying our birds, but it seems even they are more plentiful when the sun is out. We have not even had a chance to put mulch down in our flower bed. We may be tired of the rain, but we do not know what lies ahead. We could have some long, hot dry days ahead this summer.
We had our first Sunday night church this past Sunday night. It was good to be back to some normalcy, and the sermon was very good. Remember that Friendship Baptist Church has morning service at 10:30 a.m. with Sunday school at 9:30 a.m. We also have Sunday night at 6:30 p.m. with discipleship training at 5:30 p.m. We do have at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday night services. You are welcome any time!
Not much else to report this week and no news reported from readers. I sure would love to hear from y’all. You would make this column more interesting for many. My email is listed at the end.
Happy birthday to Joie Freeman, 6-8, and Eunice Rouse Massengill, 6-13.
Happy anniversary to Jennifer and Jason Johnson and Jerry and Brenda Hudson, 6-8, and Brianne and Brad Matheney and Allen and Lillie Arnold, 6-9.
Please continue to remember these in prayer: Denise Armstrong, Sheila Berry, Charlie Brewer, Robert and Joyce Brewer, J.T. Butler, Jackie Chambers, Wood Deming, Zack Eaton, Rachel Ellington, Nancy McCaskill, Martha Mainord, Jimmy Moore, LaVelle Page, Pam Priddy, Donald Rowlett, Dalton Seratt, Missy Seratt, John Webb, Jo Willis and the family of Jim Ruth. Also, please pray for our military, law enforcement, our country and its leaders, those affected by COVID and first responders.
There are many sick and hurting. Please say a prayer for those; even if you do not know their name, God does. Prayer is not an obligation; it is the greatest privilege we have. Pray yourself through each day
“Strong Faith” by Diane Ranker Riesen – “One day when I have long since gone – I hope my years show true/that having Faith throughout my life was what helped get me through/I’ve weathered storms of sorrows; and conquered days of strife/but holding on, and trusting God is how I got through life/The sorrows will diminish and the pain will also ‘dim’/just keep on trusting and hold on – give these days to ‘Him’/God never wanted any of us to endure such painful hours/but consequences follow men – and we must handle ‘ours’/I’ve found that every time I make it through another pain/that God was right there with me and great lessons I had gained/I’d rather have the perfect days, when all the world is right/but sin steals so much happiness…we have to stand and fight/When you awake with burdens that are weighing down on you/and you assume that for that day there’s nothing you can do/Remember there’s a Higher Power that supersedes the way/and call on Him to intercede, and brighten up your day/I promise God will hear you -and answer all your needs/we have to realize God’s always watching, and He sees/that everything will work out – according to His Plans/God had a pathway clearly drawn before the birth of man/I pray we lean back on our strengths and offer up our pleas/and trusting God will guarantee He’ll give us what we need/Our time on earth has challenges, and some days seem so wrong/But we can conquer every trial if we keep our faith strong.”
I pray you all have a wonderful week, and may it be filled with love, joy, peace and blessings. Remember: if you have news, please email me at mimmiepots@gmail.com. I would truly appreciate any news. People from here and those who have moved from our area but still want to keep in touch through the newspaper are hungry for news from home.
Until next week, Happy Trails to You.
