Hello to everyone! I hope you have all had a good week. It has sure been hot. Saturday was partly cloudy with a slight breeze at times. It rained some Sunday and Monday, and then we get a reprieve from the rain through Thursday according to the weather forecast. Next Friday and Saturday are calling for popup showers at this present time. We mowed our yard Thursday afternoon, and the only breeze I felt was when the mower was moving. I was mowing in the backyard and was watching where I mow of course. I heard a loud noise, and I immediately shut the mower off. Long story short, James had to take a break from mowing to work on our mower. Thank the Lord he worked hard and fixed it. I refrain from reporting the actual cause of the issue. I felt like I had been run over by a mac truck, and he looked like he had. The weekend is here, and rain is expected, so weedeating will be next week. Our flowers and birds are happy. Our yellow warbler has now hatched some babies. We do not know how many, but it sure has given James something to study.
Last Thursday, we observed a horrendous thing. We were coming back from Jackson about 1:20 p.m., and we saw a rolling plume of smoke flowing toward the sky. We continued driving, and, slowly, we came to a complete halt. I did not see any “blue lights” and told James to call 911. He did, and, apparently, he was the first call because they asked where the fire was. It was very close to Brittain’s Septic Tank business headed toward Jackson. I actually saw one whole lane on fire with the blaze higher than I am tall. I heard they had to repave the highway there. I was told there were two 18 wheelers and a vehicle involved. I also was told a young child went to the hospital in Memphis. I saw more law enforcement cars than I have ever seen. They were on this PRONTO! We were told we would need to reroute or wait two-three hours. We chose to reroute. God bless all those involved and those who assisted with the accident.
Friendship Baptist Church has made it official. Bro. Glenn Harris is now our full time pastor. He has been very gracious to be our interim during and before COVID-19. We welcome him and his family and look forward to God leading him and our church into a bright future ahead. We enjoyed a great message Sunday morning and a very moving message! 1 Timothy 4:16 – “Take heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this thou shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee.” We also have a new music director Bro. Bryan McMorris. We also welcome him and his family and look forward to enjoying making music with our voices and worshipping the Lord together. God is on the move! We hope you will join us in worship on Sundays with Sunday school at 9:30 a.m. and church at 10:30 a.m. We have a children’s church and nursery available. Sunday night is discipleship training at 5:30 p.m. and church at 6:30 p.m. and Wednesday nights are at 6:30 p.m.
Happy birthday to Bliss Swayne and Nancy Morris, 7-19; Jamie Berry, 7-20; Bruce Morris, 7-21; and Zach Eaton, Brenda Peterson and Peggy King, 7-23.
Happy anniversary to Hillery and Jared Blankenship, 7-23.
Please continue to remember these in prayer Sheila Berry, Charlie Brewer, Robert and Joyce Brewer, J.T. Also, please pray for our military, law enforcement, our country and its leaders, those affected by COVID-19 and first responders. There are many sick and hurting. Please say a prayer for those; even if you do not know their name, God does. Prayer is not an obligation; it is the greatest privilege we have. Pray yourself through each day.
“Morning Peace” by Diane Ranker Riesen – “Good morning Sunshine – hello Breeze/welcome bunnies, flowers, and trees/My eyes wake up to wondrous sights/my heart is full…my soul feels right/I’ve learned that life flies by so fast/each year seems shorter than the last/I realize now that each day shines/and it’s a gift to enjoy mine/There’s nothing ‘hatred’ can repair/and sorrow only strips you bare/and so, this morning – Lord, I pray/My ‘faith’ in You will guide my way/You’ve given me this day to be/a version of the best of ‘me’/I pray that all Your peace will stay/with EVERYONE throughout this day.”
I pray you all have a wonderful week, and may it be filled with love, joy, peace and blessings. Remember: if you have news, please email me at mimmiepots@gmail.com. I would truly appreciate any news. People from here and those who have moved from our area but still want to keep in touch through the newspaper are hungry for news from home.
Until next week, Happy Trails to You.
