Hello to everyone! The sky was a light blue, and there were a few white-puffy gray clouds on Saturday. There was an occasional breeze, and no birds were feeding at our feeders at the time. We are still seeing birds but not as many as usual. Our flowers are still pretty in pots, but the flower bed is beginning to wind down some. As you all know, we have had a lot of rain. The temperature was 88 degrees at the time of this writing, but it felt like 100 degrees with the humidity. Humidity is a BIG dislike for me. According to the weather forecast, we are not expecting rain until possibly Thursday or Friday, but as we also know, that can change on a dime in the south. I do know we will have to pick a day soon to mow when the ground has dried out some. We have also noted cicadas and army worms, but at this point, with the “yard” we have, the best thing is to wait for the weather to change, and they will leave.
It appears from everything reported that COVID cases are increasing. I am wearing a mask if out in public, using hand sanitizer and social distancing as much as possible. We do still participate with small groups, but I am not sure how long that will last.
Happy birthday to Jennifer Johnson, Austyn Newman, Diane Jordan and Julia Parchman, 8-22; Dwain Seaton, 8-23; Nick Priddy and Kendyl Davidson, 8-24; Janet Crame, 8-25; and Jaden Cupples, 8-27.
Happy anniversary to Don and Charlene Holmes, 8-25; Vance and Karen Connor, 8-26; and Tanya and Mark Morris, 8-27.
Please continue to remember these in prayer Randy Baker, Sheila Berry, Charlie Brewer, Robert and Joyce Brewer, J.T. Butler, Jackie Chambers, Nancy McCaskill, LaVelle Page, Pam Priddy, Jesse Pugh, Ruth Reddin, Logan Rencher, Dwain Seaton, Jr., Randy Sells, Dalton Seratt, David Tucker, Tony Tucker, Amanda Ward and Adam Wise. Also, please pray for our military and law enforcement, our country and its leaders, those suffering from the fallout in Afghanistan those affected by COVID and first responders. There are many sick and hurting. Please say a prayer for those; even if you do not know their name, God does. Prayer is not an obligation; it is the greatest privilege we have. Pray yourself through each day.
Easy Corn Casserole – Eight ounces Jiffy Corn Muffin Mix, 15 ounces whole kernel corn (drained), 15 ounces, creamed corn (not drained), one cup sour cream and 1/2 cup melted butter. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. In a bowl, mix all ingredients together and pour into a greased 8×8 baking pan. Cook uncovered 45-50 minutes or until lightly browned. NOTE: Mix in two eggs which makes a lighter casserole. Add 1/2-1 cup shredded cheddar cheese…because cheese makes everything better, right? ENJOY!
Dear Lord, for everyone who is struggling today, may they feel your strength rise up within them. May they feel Your nearness and be assured that Your grace will see them through…one day, one hour, one minute at a time. Please meet each need and fill each heart with Your hope and peace. In the name of Jesus we ask these things. Amen.
I pray you all have a wonderful week, and may it be filled with love, joy, peace and blessings. Remember: if you have news, please email me at mimmiepots@gmail.com. I would truly appreciate any news. People from here and those who have moved from our area but still want to keep in touch through the newspaper are hungry for news from home.
Until next week, Happy Trails to You.
