Happy Fall! I hope it has been a good week for everyone. Today is Sunday, Oct. 24. The temperature is 76 degrees, skies are a beautiful blue again today and there is a nice breeze noted. Our potted flowers are still doing good and the houseplants will move inside later this week. We have 2 bluebirds that have returned and hopefully will build another nest. I saw a bluejay this morning, other than that we are waiting for them to return. James is about halfway through bush trimming.
We went to our great granddaughter Laiken’s birthday party yesterday. She was “ONEder Woman” – 1 yr. old and walking. She enjoyed it all, yet didn’t know what to think. She enjoyed pulling tissue paper from the sacks and ALL her surprises and those who came. Blessings abound!!!
Jacks Creek Fire Dept on Hwy 100 E will be having their annual stew sale on Saturday 10-30-21. It will be ready between 10:30 a.m. and 11 a.m.
Remember, Halloween treats will be given out at Gene Record Park on Sat. Oct. 30 from 4-6 p.m. There are several groups and churches participating. I think it is a safe alternative considering Covid and other issues. Thanks to all participants!

Apple Pie Bites! Delicious, quick and easy mini apple pies made with Pillsbury crescent rolls in less than 30 minutes! You will need one-fourth cup packed light brown sugar, one teaspoon apple pie spice and additional apple pie spice for sprinkling on top of crescent rolls, three tablespoons melted butter, one-third cup chopped pecans, one small Granny Smith apple (cored and sliced into eight 1/2 inch slices), and one eight ounce can Pillsbury Original crescent rolls. Preheat your oven to 375 degrees F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. In a small bowl, combine brown sugar and apple pie spice. Set aside. Melt butter and toss apple slices in butter, set aside. Arrange crescent roll triangles on baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Evenly distribute brown sugar mixture onto each triangle. Sprinkle each triangle evenly with the chopped pecans. Place an apple slice on the wide end of each triangle. Wrap crescent roll dough around each apple. Brush each crescent roll with remaining butter. Sprinkle lightly with additional apple pie spice. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until golden brown. Cool for five minutes before serving. Serves eight apple pie bites.
