Good day to all! I hope you have all had a good week. Sunday was a beautiful sunny day! The skies were a delightful blue, and the temperature was 63 degrees. It felt warmer in the sun of course. The weather forecast calls for pretty weather until Thursday with a chance of rain then along with lower temperatures mostly in the mid 50s. Daylight Savings time ended last weekend. This was implemented in World War 1. Food for thought: Congress held hearings on extending daylight saving time in the mid-1980s. Officials from the golf industry said that an additional month of daylight saving was worth $200 million in additional sales of golf clubs and greens fees. The barbeque industry said it was worth $100 million. The medical community is in loyal opposition to imposing permanent daylight saving time, citing studies showing that moving clocks ahead an hour has been tied to health risks ranging from auto fatalities to cancer, so people are working on getting all the states on the same page and making daylight savings time a thing of the past! I am so for that.
Veterans Day, Thursday, Nov. 11, will be a day to honor our Veterans. This date was chosen in remembrance of the ending of World War 1 in 1918. While the holidays are similar, Veterans Day is distinguished from Memorial Day in that Veterans Day includes the honoring of all of those who have served while Memorial Day is reserved for those who have lost their lives while serving. “This will remain the home of the free only so long as it is the home of the brave.” – Elmer Davis. God bless you all and thanks so much for your service and loyalty to our country.
Happy birthday to Doug Bishop, 11-7, Charlene Holmes, 11-9, and Melba Seaton, 11-11.
Happy anniversary to De and Chuck Scott, 11-10.

Also, please pray for our military, law enforcement, our country and its leaders, those affected by COVID and first responders There are many sick and hurting. Please say a prayer for those; even if you do not know their name, God does. Prayer is not an obligation; it is the greatest privilege we have. Pray yourself through each day.
“Have You?” by Diane Ranker Riesen – “Have you ever had an awful day when everything seemed wrong/You tried your best to rise above – and struggled to stay strong/I think we all have had those days and think that we’re alone/I feel it would have helped me…if I had only known/We all struggle now and then – our hearts will feel such pain/some days shine bright with sunshine…while others cry with rain/but through these times I’ve learned a truth – it helps me to go on/I’ve felt God at my lowest points – He’s with me all along/Nothing really seems to help when those dark times come near/but trust another day will dawn -there’ll be less pain and fear/I pray we each remember when those trying days occur/that God will always help us – He’s our strength and perfect cure/Help us Lord when we feel weak…to keep You in our soul/plant His truths down in our hearts so next time we will know/that earth’s time is only temporary and one day we’ll be free/when God makes all our dreams come true…He’s there for you and me.”
I pray you all have a wonderful week, and may it be filled with love, joy, peace and blessings. Remember: if you have news, please email me at mimmiepots@gmail.com. I would truly appreciate any news. People from here and those who have moved from our area but still want to keep in touch through the newspaper are hungry for news from home. Until next week, Happy Trails to You.
