Hello to all! The sun was out on Sunday, and the skies were blue. It was a nippy 47 degrees as I wrote this. I do not feel like ho-ho-ho is appropriate this week. The storms that dispersed throughout Arkansas, Tennessee and Kentucky were devastating. As many know by now from the news, media and others, homes were destroyed, buildings were shredded to smithereens and lives were lost. There is no good time for disasters. Please pray for all those affected by these storms and loss of loved ones.
We were blessed not to be affected by the storms in regards to destruction, but trees had fallen across our road, which resulted in loss of internet and power. We lost power at approximately 3:15 a.m. Saturday morning. This resulted in our internet being down until 3 p.m. Thanks to all the S.W.E. people who worked tirelessly to restore power to homes all while braving the unknown weather. We surely appreciate all you do! Also, kudos to Aeneas for restoring the internet that same afternoon. We could not see anything regarding reports from the storm without these services.
We had a great service at Friendship Baptist Church Sunday. The topic was Jesus: Past, Present and Future. We are having a Christmas program at 5:30 p.m. Sunday night, Dec. 19. There will be a potluck meal after the program, and everyone is invited.
Happy birthday to Chastity King and Jan Haskins, 12-13, and Lauren Johnson, 12-15.
Happy anniversary Charlotte and John Webb, 12-17.
Please continue to remember these in prayer Randy Baker, Sheila Berry, Robert and Joyce Brewer, J.T. and Jeanette Butler, Jackie Chambers, Tom Gaugh, Maryann Lackie, Martha Mainord, LaVelle Page, Pam Priddy, Jesse Pugh, Jake Richardson, Gina Robinson, Kristi Taylor, David Tucker, Tony Tucker, Jerry Weir, Clarence Wells, Adam Wise and the family of Nancy McCaskill. Also, please pray for our military, law enforcement, our country and its leaders, those affected by COVID and first responders. There are many sick and hurting. Please say a prayer for those; even if you do not know their name, God does. Prayer is not an obligation; it is the greatest privilege we have. Pray yourself through each day.
“If You Look for Me at Christmas” by Unknown – “If you look for Me at Christmas, you won’t need a special star. I’m no longer just in Bethlehem, I’m right there where you are. You may not be aware of Me amid the celebration. You’ll have to look beyond the stores and all the decorations. But, if you take a moment from your list of things to do, And listen to your heart, you’ll find I’m waiting there for you. You’re the one I want to be with, you’re the reason that I came, And you’ll find Me in the stillness as I’m whispering your name. Love, Jesus.”
I pray you all have a wonderful week, and may it be filled with love, joy, peace and blessings. Remember: if you have news, please email me at mimmiepots@gmail.com. I would truly appreciate any news. People from here and those who have moved from our area but still want to keep in touch through the newspaper are hungry for news from home. Until next week, Happy Trails to You.
