Hello and good day to all! This is Saturday, July 16. It is 94 degrees and humidity makes it feel like it is 101 degrees. There is a slight breeze noted; skies are a beautiful blue with white clouds. The forecast calls for the possibility of rain this evening and maybe Sunday. Our flowers on the deck are doing well with continued tending. Our purple petunias are growing wild, and some are reaching toward the sky. I pinch the dead buds off most days. We have some pink on the front porch with pink and white (bicolor) geraniums – very pretty.
We are still blessed with hummers, wrens, a few finches and the yellow prothonotary birds. We mowed the grass Monday and finished Tuesday, and the heat and humidity are like throwing fertilizer on it. We could mow today, but it will wait a few more days. We do not mow until after 4 p.m. in this heat. I hope you all are staying cool and that those who have crops have a good yield. The cotton is looking good to me, but what does an old city girl know?
We enjoyed spending time with friends and neighbors at the Friendship Community Club last night. We had a good crowd, great food and hungry folks. LOL. Most of the dishes did not have enough in them to save. Everything was delicious. We then played cards and dominoes. We meet the third Friday of each month and invite you to come and enjoy having fun with us.
Friendship Baptist Church just finished its Vacation Bible School this past week. The children enjoyed learning about Jesus and how He loves us and enjoyed several activities. Thanks to all who brought their children or participated in any way. I remember when our grandkids went when they were younger and went to church with us. That is a great, sweet memory I have. It is wonderful to see and know they know the Lord and what He has done for them. God is good all the time!

“Waiting at the Door” by unknown – “I was just a pup when we first met/I loved you from the start/you picked me up and took me home/and placed me in your heart/Good times we had together/we shared all life could throw/but years passed all too quickly/my time has come to go/I know how much you miss me/I know your heart is sore/I see the tears that fall/when I’m not Waiting at the Door/You always did your best for me/your love was plain to see/for even though it broke your heart/you set my spirit free/So please be brave without me/one day we’ll meet once more/for when you’re called to Heaven/I’ll be Waiting at the Door.”
I pray you all have a wonderful week, and may it be filled with love, joy, peace and blessings. Remember: if you have news, please email me at mimmiepots@gmail.com. I would truly appreciate any news. People from here and those who have moved from our area but still want to keep in touch through the newspaper are hungry for news from home.
Until next week, Happy Trails to You.
