Hello to all! Again, I hope everyone had a good week. It has been a very warm week. It sure is nice to see the crops farmers plant. I know it is very hard work, and one has to live on “faith.” I know the weather, concerns on tariffs and other factors weigh on many minds. The Lord has provided and always will. Life itself is unsure and is full of adjustments, but I tell myself, “It could always be worse.” There is so much evil and suffering in this world, but we must remember there is still good and be thankful for every blessing seen and unseen. I also would like to continue to thank the “traveling angels” who are taking care of our yard while James is down. His surgery date is drawing nearer.

I watched a television show called What Would You Do? We see so much ugly, mean spirited things on television. It was great to see that in different parts of the country there are still good people with kind hearts. People still care about others. We must remember this. The media, reporters and such just find newsworthy information and seems to just throw it out there. They all want to be the first to report “IT.” Why then do they proceed to pound it in to the ground? Mudslinging, hateful, mean spiritedness comes from all sides. This country needs to show what we are made of and support each other. Pull together and do not allow the media to brainwash us! Pray to God to cover us and our country with a hedge of protection. Why do all those waiting at the border want to come here after learning of the hate and violence? I think it possibly could be because they still believe in this country when some of our own do not. SAD. This country hasn’t changed, but many people have. Pray for our country and its leaders to get back to what this country was meant to be.

We enjoyed another year at the Southwest Electric Membership Meeting Friday night at the Jackson fairgrounds. They usually furnish a meal from Heavenly Ham, have a short business meeting and then provide entertainment. This year was a group that played Beatles music. They were very good, and I enjoyed it very much. They also have a gift for every household on arrival. There are usually things for children to do outside along with popcorn and snow cones. I think last night was the largest attendance I have seen. It does seem larger than last year. Thanks to SWE for all you do to keep us all cool and warm as needed. Praying for your safety in all kinds of weather.

We enjoyed another Sunday morning at Friendship Baptist with Bro. Glenn Harris. Bro. Chad Sellers preached Sunday night, and Bro. Harris will be back on Wednesday night and again Sunday. God is truly blessing us and our church, and we are very thankful. We welcome Jeremy Clark as a new member to our church through baptism. We invite you to visit us anytime. We would love to see you.

Well, the first week of school has finished. I hope it was a good week for all and not to confusing for the children changing schools this year. There are new friends, old friends, new classes and teachers and many adjustments in the beginning. I hope and pray everyone has a great year. NO BULLYING!

We have been seeing several deer out – some does with fawns and some bucks. Please be watchful when you are out, not only for yourself but also for the animals.

Happy Birthday to Justin Bishop, Pat Connor and Vance Connor, Aug. 11; Colby King and Teresa McCaskill, Aug. 15; Kevin Davidson, Brittany Gordon and Braxton Ellis, Aug. 16; and Jason Johnson, Aug. 17.

Happy anniversary to Nancy & David Morris, Aug. 14. and Carlis & Margie McGhee, Aug. 15.

Please continue to remember these in prayer: Lynn Allen, George and Marie Bishop, Charlie Brewer, Janis Brewer, Robert & Joyce Brewer, Steve and Kay Burton, Leon Carroll, Jackie Chambers, Kathy Cupples, Billy Dickson, James Ellis, Johnny Joyner, Bobbie Wyatt King, Lee Nell King, Billy Frank Latham, Nancy McCaskill, Owen McKinney, Mark Morris, Pam Priddy, Doris & Donald Rowlett, Dalton Seratt, Mark Wilson, Adam Wise and Trey Young. Also, please pray for our military, law enforcement, our country and its leaders and first responders. There are many sick and hurting. Please say a prayer for those. Even if you don’t know their name, God does.

“Understand” by Diane Ranker Riesen – “When I feel my prayers are helpless – and I just can’t help their pain/I think back on God’s promises and see my thoughts are “vain”/not for me to wonder – or to judge how I should pray/God answers every one of them in His Almighty way/His answers may not seem in view – and I don’t see the change/but God knows what He needs to do; and He will rearrange/I need to sit and trust Him…and trust my prayers are heard/for only God sees what is best – and sometimes things aren’t cured/It’s hard to wait and wonder…it’s hard to blindly trust/but, in the end we all will see God did what’s best for us/So though I wait and wonder – and it’s hard to pray and wait/God’s always known what’s best for us…and He’ll secure our fate/Regardless of my wondering – in spite of being weak/We need to hand our prayers to God; and trust the hopes we seek/We haven’t got the power – and we cannot know His plan/So I will just keep praying..until I understand.”

I pray you all have a wonderful week, and may it be filled with love, joy, peace and blessings. Remember: if you have news, please call me at 983-0718 or email mimmiepots@gmail.com. I would truly appreciate any news. People from here and those who have moved from our area but still want to keep in touch through the newspaper are ‘hungry’ for news from home.

Until next week, Happy Trails to You.
