Summer is slipping away, and August whispering new promises like sweeter strawberries and starry nights. I love this quote from Sylvia Path.
“August rain: the best of the summer gone, and the new fall not yet born. The odd uneven time.”
A memorial service was held for Jolene (Siler) Lee Saturday, Aug. 13. Jolene was reared in Silerton by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Siler. She moved to Barre, Vt., with her husband where they lived. Jolene is the sister of Bill Siler of Silerton. After the graveside service, the family enjoyed a meal of BBQ with all the trimmings and desserts at the home of the late Norma Jean Sedberry. It was truly a great fellowship for the family in spite of family’s grief.
In travel news, Linda (Hatch) Russell traveled to Panama City, Fla., for time at the beach. It is reported the ladies enjoyed their trip. Linda traveled with her daughter, granddaughters, daughter-in-law and a friend.
Mark your calendars; the next city meeting will be at 6 p.m. Sept. 20. Thank you to Mary Lynn Lambert for sharing news of the memorial service and travel news. I hope that everyone has a great rest of the week!
