Prayer request for Ann Hinson as she battles health issues. Joie Freeman, Brenda Cooper, John Jordan and Sarah Chandler continue to need our prayers.
David and Winna Cupples, owners of Double C Thrift Store in Ripley, Miss., have been unable to open their business since the middle of March. They also ran an auction in Middleton each weekend. I asked them to share some of their thoughts on the quarantine and how it has impacted their lives. It has impacted them financially because they did not qualify for the small business stimulus money.
They have 12 people helping them. The employees are struggling financially also because they do not get unemployment. David states that he has spent a lot of time sitting in the swing on the front porch watching the squirrels. He feels he will have a tough time getting the business back as usual. There will be a high cost to restart. Every chair and the building will have to be sanitized. David is looking forward to returning to work for financial reasons and also to be back with people. They have tentatively set their restart date as June 1 for the Ripley store auction. David stated that he has received several calls wanting to know when the auction will reopen.
It is nice to see the neighbors working in their gardens and watching the plants grow. Fresh vegetables are a treat that most Silerton people relish.
I would appreciate if you would call and share some of your news and thoughts or memories so we can stay connected.
