Lots of folks are taking advantage of our beautiful fall weather to visit friends and family. Gail Mayfield shared a recent visit that she and Bill had from John Mayfield. “John William Mayfield, age 10, spent time with his “Pops” Bill Mayfield during his recent fall school break. They shot the rifle, played in the creek, and worked in the shop so John could use different tools. John is named for his great grandfather Johnny Mayfield.”
Mary Lynn Lambert relayed news of other Silerton citizens enjoying the fall.
“David and Lois Stack, along with Grady and Carolyn Stack spent a week camping at Pickwick. It was a great time of family fun. Lee and Frances Stack dropped by to enjoy some of their family time.
Frankie and Mary Lynn Lambert visited Tim’s Ford State Park near Winchester, Tennessee. They enjoyed cabin life on the lake for a few days. Each day they included a trail walk along part of the lake.”
Willard and Linda Beshires had a pleasant picnic lunch by Reelfoot Lake this past weekend. They ordered curbside pick-up from Boyette’s. They both had the quail (Willard’s favorite).
Kevin, Otto and I enjoyed spending time with friends this past weekend. The men grilled steaks and watched UT Football, and the kids played outside on the swing set while the moms drank coffee.
Some traditional foods I try not to miss each fall include homemade chex mix and caramel apples. As we near the colder weather, if you have a favorite family recipe, please share it with me. I would love to feature some Silerton recipes.
