Easter Sunday was a pleasant day for many in Silerton. Mayor Willard Beshires noted he saw “a large group in the park enjoying Easter Sunday. It is nice to see increased use of the park.” Mary Lynn Lambert reported, “Silerton Baptist Church enjoyed a good worship on Easter Sunday. Brother Crouthers delivered a great message.”
Kevin, Otto, and I visited my parents and extended family in Knoxville. Otto got to hunt Easter eggs with my cousin’s son Duke. Both boys enjoyed a wagon ride snacking on their treats. My parents and aunt put together a delicious spread of ham, deviled eggs, hash brown casserole and blackberry cheesecake. We also got to visit my grandmother, Bunny Nash. It seemed appropriate for Otto to get to see his great-grandmother Bunny on Easter day.
Mary Lynn Lambert shared some more community news with me of note. “Shout out to Mike and Mitzi Hatch for 40 years of marriage on April 3! Prayers are requested for Vivian Gibson as she recovers from her recent surgery. Brenda Cooper remains in JMCGM. She will be returning to the nursing home in Henderson soon.”
For anyone interested, Gail Mayfield shared that Homecoming 2021 at Silerton Baptist Church will be held on the first Sunday of May.
There was a town meeting held on April 5. Stay tuned for town news in future articles. We certainly appreciate all of our returning aldermen and our newest aldermen.
