The harvest season is here. I always enjoy getting fresh corn this time of year and enjoying the homegrown crops neighbors share with us.
Just this weekend, Linda Beshires made one of her famous apple pies from our apple trees, and it turned out delicious. According to nationaldaycalendar.com, August is also National Catfish Month. This tradition has been observed since 1988. Folks can celebrate by fishing for catfish or simply purchasing some to cook or eat. West Tennessee has some of the best catfish I have ever tried. I particularly like Hagy’s Catfish Hotel in Shiloh.
Belated birthday wishes to our July birthday citizens. David Stack celebrated a birthday on July 16. Bobby Naylor’s birthday was July 19. Stan Rush celebrated a birthday on July 26, and Janet Lambert’s birthday was on July 30. August birthdays this month include Cody Clifton (Aug. 3), Vonda Siler (Aug. 7), and Mary Lynn Frances (Aug. 15).
Our condolences extend to the families of Roger Hatch and Walter Cooper. Prayers for Frankie and Larry Lambert and family. They recently traveled to Washington, Ill., to visit their sister and aunt. She is residing in Reflections Memory Care under hospice care.
