We may not have gotten the white Christmas, but what an exciting way to start the new year. Silerton was blanketed in over an inch of snow on Jan. 2. Hope everyone had a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! I am looking forward to reporting lots of joyous news around Silerton in 2022. The mayor and aldermen continue to work on improvements for the park such as a slide and a walking trail.
The Beshires and I celebrated an enjoyable Christmas with my parents in Knoxville. This was Willow’s first Christmas and Otto’s third Christmas. All the grandparents and aunts and uncles spoiled them accordingly. My family traditionally has various soups on Christmas. My Aunt Jamye said this tradition began when both my grandparents lived in the area so that we would not all be eating the same Christmas meal again and again. We also traditionally play a pass the present game. This year, we did a white elephant game and also a dice game with the theme of “rabbits.” I suspect this theme was inspired by my Grandma’s name, Grandma Bunny!
I would love to hear about other families’ Christmas and New Years experiences. Let me know what special moments others enjoyed on these holidays. Hope everyone is staying safe and well!
