Mark your calendar for a big fund-raising potluck meal Saturday, Aug. 24, at 6 p.m. at the Silerton Fire Department.

The Piney Grove Community welcomes Randy and Trudy Richardson to their community. They are relocating from Maine.

Back in August of 1953, three first-grade girls and three first-grade boys met at the Silerton School to begin their education. Five of those six students would complete 12 years of school together. One of the girls, Carolyn (Chandler) Vales, graduated from Chester County High School, and the rest graduated from Bolivar Central High. On Thursday, Aug. 8, those six friends with their spouses enjoyed a barbeque meal at our home in Saulsbury. Leo Lambert was also able to attend. All agreed it was a very enjoyable night of reconnecting and sharing memories of school days. Kenneth and Betty Black reside in Vicksburg, Miss. Richard and Rita Crowley recently moved back to Silerton from Houston, Texas. Linda (Hatch) Russell, Carolyn Vales and I made our homes in Hardeman County. Larry Lambert chose Chester County to make his home. It was the first time all six of these friends had been together since graduation in 1965.
