Hello from Sweetlips. Hope this finds everyone well and that everyone is staying warm. It is once again that time of year. Our stew/bake sale will be Feb. 11 with a snow date of Feb. 18. There are flyers around town. The stew will be ready around 10 a.m. It is $20 gallon, and you must bring your own container. All proceeds go to the maintenance and upkeep of the Sweetlips Volunteer Fire Department and Community Center. Your support is greatly appreciated. Hope to see you there!
If you wish to preorder, you may call any of the following numbers: Neil Kinchen at 989-7342, JoAnn Greer at 989-7523, Cindy Springer at 989-7046 and Dianne Williams at 608-2583. We are asking folks in the community to donate beef roast for the stew. They should be cooked, deboned and left in their own juices. Please use non-returnable containers. You may drop off roasts and baked items to the community center on Friday evening, Feb. 10. Also, please put your name on your baked item and identify what it is. Sometimes with frosting it is hard to tell. We have some yummy baked goods.
Also, we will be peeling potatoes at about 4 p.m. on Friday evening. Bring your sharp knife and help us out.
On our prayer list are Ray Dupont, Gordon Russell, Pam Coyne, Alton Kinchen, Mike and Joe Russell, JoAnn Greer, Tony Trussell, Avery Todd, Olivia Springer, Stacey Hurt, Sonny and Liz Russell and all of those around us who are sick and afflicted with flu, pneumonia, COVID or surgery.
As all of you in our area know, we are absolutely covered up by deer. It is not one or two. It is more like 15 to 30. I have not seen this many in one spot as long as I have lived here. Do proceed with caution. There have been several wrecks.
Remember to check in on the sick and shut-ins. Some folks do not have anyone.
Have a blessed week. Hope everyone has a Happy Valentine’s Day. Let that special someone know how much they mean to you.
