Congratulations to Riley and Hannah Carter on the birth of their first child, a son. Bryce Sterling was born Dec. 15, 2020. He weighed six pounds, 12 ounces and was 20 inches long. The proud grandparents are Jerry and Christie Newsome and Tim Carter and the late Tresa Carter.
Congratulations to Kendyl Kinchen and Adam McGee who were married Jan. 16, 2021 at Chickasaw.
Mrs. Dianne Williams is now ready to make appointments to have your taxes filed. You may call her at 989-2156, the Sweetlips Store.
It is once again time for the stew/bake sale fundraiser for the Sweetlips Community/Fire Department. It will be Feb. 6. We are asking for donations of beef roast and items for the bake sale from the community. Without your help, we would not be as successful. Your roast should be cooked, deboned and left in its juices. Please use disposable containers or make sure your name is on the container. Bring the meat to the center Friday evening. Your cakes, pies, cookies, etc., should have your name on it and also be in disposable containers and labeled with what it is. These may also be left at the center on Friday. If it needs to be in the refrigerator, please do so. We will be peeling 200 pounds of potatoes on Friday around 4-4:30 p.m. If you want to help, brig your favorite knife and join us. There will be flyers up with more information about the stew around town. You may preorder by calling any of the following numbers: Neal Kinchen at 989-7342, Cindy Springer at 989-7046, Sweetlips Store at 989-2156 or JoAnn Greer at 989-7523. You must bring your own containers to pick up the stew. For your safety and ours, we ask that you please wear your mask.
Our heartfelt sympathy to the family and friends of Randy Mount, Shirlene Lyles and Spencer Goodwin.
On our prayer list are Bruce, Brenda and Tammy Barton; Danny Ray; Frances Newsom; Dude, Joe, and Mike Russell; Debbie Jett’s husband, Steve Hurt; Braden Greer; and all the many people who have COVID. It just seems to be growing daily. So many people I know have or have had it.
Happy Anniversary to Wendell and Donna Murphy, Jan. 22. Happy Birthday to Ben Quarrles, Jan. 23; Jackie Gillam, Jan. 24; Butch Gaffhey, Jan. 25; Jesse Fletcher, Jan. 26; Michaela Price, Jan. 27; Jean Pickett, Jan. 29; and William Wade, Feb. 1.
Thought of the week: No matter how bad you want better for someone, until they want better for themselves, there is nothing you can do except pray for them!
Have a blessed week everyone and stay safe!
