Norman Taylor Ward, 85, of Beech Bluff died early Friday morning at AHC Lexington Manor.
Graveside services were held Monday, Jan. 4, at the Big Springs Cemetery in Pinson with Bro. Bobby Bray officiating.
He was born May 7, 1935 in Madison County, son of the late Charles Thomas and Hazel Fern Holder Ward.
He grew up in Beech Bluff and was a 1954 graduate of Beech Bluff High School. He worked for Piggly Wiggly Company constructing countertops for many years. He also farmed and began woodworking and cabinetry.
He raised a large garden and sold vegetables at the Farmers Market and to grocery stores in Jackson. He was a competitive trap gun shooter for over 20 years and he loved to hunt.
He is survived by a son, John (Vickie) Ward of Somerville; one daughter, Brenda (Phillip) Blankenship of Jackson; three grandchildren, Wesley (Michelle) Blankenship, David (Whitney) Blankenship and Jennifer Ward; one great-grandchild, Mason Blankenship; and a close friend and companion, Shirley Latham of Beech Bluff.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Betty Louise McMurry Ward, in 2005.
