Mark Daniel – Nov. 18, 1963 – Nov. 10, 2024

Mark Edward Daniel, 60, of Jacks Creek, passed away peacefully at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital on Nov. 10, 2024, surrounded by his family. The family received friends at Shackelford Funeral Directors East Main Chapel from 5-8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 14, and from noon until service time of 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 15, at the Jacks Creek Apostolic Church. Burial followed at the church cemetery.  He was born on Nov. 18, 1963, in Monte Vista, Calif., the ninth child of the late Noel and Ethel Daniel. He married Karen Darlene Wade on May 16, 1981. Together, they lived in Jacks Creek and had a son, Mark Bradley, and a daughter, Heather Darlene, until Darlene’s passing in March of 1985. Later, he married Denise Marie Wade on Jan. 24, 1986. They made their life in Jacks Creek and together they had two daughters, Cherish Diane and Martha Ellen “Ellie,” and a son, Jason Mitchell Daniel. They raised their three children (Heather, Cherish and Mitchell) together with love. They attended church at Jacks Creek Apostolic Church in Jacks Creek. He worked construction for most of his life and was very passionate about his work. He had a deep love for the House of God and making it beautiful. He has traveled near and far to help with building remodels and projects. He was known for his musical talents, his sense of humor and his willingness to help others in need. He also enjoyed riding motorcycles, breakfast with his brothers and friends and a good guitar picking. He is survived by his loving wife; two daughters; a son; one daughter-in-law, Autumn; three grandsons, Grant Noel, Peyton Mitchell and Brody John; five brothers, Buddy (Dody), Joel (Beverly), Steve (Dorothy), Tim (Judy) and Greg (Anita); a sister-in-law, Lucy Daniel; and an abundance of other family members. He is preceded in death by his parents; his first wife; a son; one daughter; a sister, Miriam; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Benny (Ruth) and John Daniel.

Anthony “Tony” Arnold – Nov. 28, 2024

Anthony Lynn “Tony” Arnold, 78, of the Peytonsville Community passed away Nov. 28, 2024. Funeral services were 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 1, at Williamson Memorial Funeral Home. Bro. Gary Fewell and Bro. Bobby Bennett officiating. Visitation was noon until service time at the funeral home. Graveside services with military honors were 1 p.m. Monday, Dec. 2, at Chester County Memory Gardens in Henderson. Family and friends served as pallbearers. Memorials may be made to Dreams and Wishes of Tennessee, P.O. Box 8383, Hermitage, TN 37076. He was born in the Friendship Community of Chester County, TN to the late T.J. and Mary Graves Arnold. He graduated in 1965 from J. Sterling Morton East High School in Cicero, Ill. He was a veteran of the US Army after high school.
He was employed with General Motors for 20 years and then moved to the Peytonsville Community in Williamson County. He later became a general contractor in construction and retired in 2005.
He was a member of American Legion in Franklin and also a member of Peytonsville Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Joy Newsom Arnold; daughter, Melissa Adams; brother, Harmon (Cathy) Arnold; sisters, Verlynn Mobley and Shelia (Bob) Evans; grandchildren, Michele Adams and Deanna Johnson; and beloved boxer, Joy. He was preceded in death by daughter, Lynda Dawn Arnold; sisters, Frances Young and Elizabeth Kitchen.

FRANCES COLLINS – April 9, 1945 – Nov. 26, 2024

Mary Frances Murdaugh Collins, 79, of Medon passed away Nov. 26, 2024, at Decatur Morgan Hospital, Decatur, Ala. Funeral services were 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 1, at Big Springs Methodist Church with Bro. Ron Davis officiating. Burial followed at Big Springs Cemetery, at Medon. The family received friends at from 1-3 p.m. service time Sunday at Big Springs Methodist Church. She was born April 9, 1945, in Jackson and grew up in Dyersburg, the daughter of the late Dewey Lois Murdaugh, Sr. and Gazzelle Beatrice Ballard Murdaugh. She graduated from Chester County High School in 1964. She married William Gerald Collins in 1965. She worked in the garment industries, Salant & Salant and Oakley Fashions. They lived in Bemis a few years and then the Deanburg Community most of their married life. Mr. Collins preceded her in death in February 2017. She was an avid reader and enjoyed gardening. She enjoyed sewing from her home, making her own clothes. She was a member of the Big Springs Methodist Church. She loved singing at the church with Wanda and Barbara. She had served as church clerk at Big Springs and cleaned the church building every Monday. She is survived by a son, Alan (Tonya) Collins of Trinity, Ala.; two grandchildren, Dillon Collins and Dakota Collins; and a brother, Dewey L. Murdaugh, Jr. of Toone.

FREEMAN “TONY” FARLEY – Nov. 5, 1954 – Nov. 27, 2024

Freeman Anthony Farley, 70, of Henderson passed away Nov. 27, 2024, at his home.
Funeral services were 6 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 4, at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Crook Avenue with Misty Farley speaking. The family received friends at Crook Avenue from 4-6 p.m. service time on Wednesday. He was born Nov. 5, 1954, in McNairy County and grew up in Chester County, the son of the late Freeman Charles Farley and Jean Mosier Farley. He went to school in Chester County.
He worked in construction, laying underground cable for Whalley Construction and with Claudie Malone. He enjoyed hanging out with friends and going to the river with friends and family.
He was a member of the New Beginning Church.      He is survived by a son, Freeman Charles “Chuck” (Misty) Farley of Reagan; one daughter, Judy (Riley) Farley of Bells; and four grandchildren, Colby Farley, Dalton Farley, Lillian Gilliam and Myles Ward. He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Mickey Farley, Joe Neal Farley, Tommy Farley and Butch Farley; and a sister, Billie Jean Pickett.

DOROTHY REDDEN – Oct. 27, 1954 – Nov. 25, 2024

Dorothy Faye Plunk Redden, 70, of Henderson passed away Nov. 25, 2024, at Lexington Manor. Funeral services were 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 29, at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Crook Avenue with Bill Wade officiating. Burial followed at Sweetlips Cemetery. The family received friends at Crook Avenue from noon until 2 p.m. service time on Friday. She was born Oct. 27, 1954, in Finger, the daughter of the late Henry Howard Plunk, Sr. and Bonnie Lee Wright Plunk. She grew up in Finger and was a 1972 graduate of McNairy Central High School. She married Mike Redden on Feb. 12, 1979. They made their home in Henderson. She worked as a clerk at Freed Hardeman University Bookstore for many years. She was a member of the Henderson Church of Christ. She loved being outside and doing yard work and going to estate sales. She loved whatever her grandkids activities included.  She is survived by her husband, Michael ‘Mike’ Fay Redden of Henderson; two sons, Payton (Shelley) Redden of Jackson and Wesley (Jessica) Redden of Lexington; seven grandchildren, Mary Payton Redden, Charlie Redden, Anna Redden, Caroline Redden, Harper Redden, Hannah Redden and Grace Redden; two sisters, Allie Mae (Dennis) Henry of Finger and Mary Jane Plunk of Henderson. She was preceded in death by her parents; six brothers, Henry Howard Plunk, Jr., Dewayne Plunk, David Plunk, Isaac Plunk, Buford Plunk and M.E. Plunk; and three sisters, Lavern Watson, Minnie Davis and Blondell Powers.

BOBBY TACKER – Aug. 4, 1942 – Dec. 1, 2024

Bobby Gene Tacker, 82, of Henderson passed away Dec. 1, 2024, at his home.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Shackelford Funeral Directors – East Main Chapel.
Burial will follow at Chester County Memory Gardens. The family received friends at East Main from 5-8 p.m. on Wednesday. He was born Aug. 4, 1942, in McNairy County, Bethel Springs, the son of the late William Guy and Mary Gladys Hysmith Tacker and moved to Chicago at age 18 and stayed there 45 years. He worked as a baker at Nabisco (National Biscuit Company) for 45 years. He is survived by his caregiver, Tammy Fesmire of Henderson; a sister, Betty (Roy) Morris of Henderson; several nieces and nephews; and his dog, “Little Bit.” He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Weronika Grandelick Tacker; a brother, William C. ‘Calvin’ Tacker; and two sisters, Cassie Hunt and Frances Smith.  

MARK STEVEN CARR – Aug. 18, 1951 – Dec. 1, 2024

Mark Steven Carr, 73, of Pinson passed away Dec. 1, 2024, at Christian Care Center of Medina. Funeral services were 11 a.m. Wednesday at Shackelford Funeral Directors – East Main Chapel with Lindsey Carr officiating. Burial followed at Chester County Memory Gardens. The family received friends at East Main from 5-7 p.m. on Tuesday. SANDRA HOLT – May 1, 1956– Dec. 1, 2024

Sandra Kay Holt, 68, of Jacks Creek passed away Dec. 1, 2024, at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 6, at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Crook Avenue with Mike Cothren officiating. Burial will follow at Milledgeville Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Crook Avenue from 5-8 p.m. on Thursday. She was born May 1, 1956.
