DORIS ROSS – March 4, 1938 – Feb. 14, 2024
Doris Jewel Bailey Bright Ross, 85, of Reagan passed away Feb. 14, 2024, at Northbrooke Health Care & Rehabilitation Center. Funeral services were 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 18, at Shackelford Funeral Directors – East Main Chapel with Bro. Johnny Bullman officiating.
Burial followed at Bailey Cemetery. The family received friends at East Main from 5-8 p.m. on Saturday and beginning at 10 a.m. Sunday until 2 p.m. service time.
She was born March 4, 1938, at Jacks Creek, the daughter of the late Kermit Burns and Ruby Jewel Liles Bailey. She went to school at Pine Springs and Jacks Creek.
She married James Wilburn Bright, Sr. in 1951. They made their home in the Jacks Creek Community. Mr. Bright passed away in 1978.
She worked at Salant & Salant and Chester County Sportswear. She later managed convenient stores. She married Terry Ray Ross in 1979. They made their home in Madison County and then moved back to Chester County when they retired in 1994. She enjoyed gardening and flowers. She and Terry Ray enjoyed traveling and camping. Mr. Ross preceded in death in 2020.
She was a Life Member of the Eastern Star. James Bright was the Worthy Patron of the Masonic Lodge, the same year, she was the Worthy Matron of the Eastern Star, and later Terry Ray served as Master of the Lodge and Worthy Patron of the Masonic Lodge. All three were very involved in the lodges. She was a member of the Shiloh Baptist Church.
She is survived by three sons, James (Pat) Bright of Henderson, Danny (Shirley) Ross of Jacks Creek and Damon (Tina) Ross of Henderson; a daughter, Ann (Paul) Schilling of Reagan; eight grandchildren, Chris Bright, Bradley Ross, Brittany Carnell, Brooke Ross Van Trump, Brandon Smith, Jeremy Mayfield, Brian Mayfield and Adam Schilling; and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, James Wilburn Bright, Sr. and Terry Ray Ross; and a brother, Kermit “Junior” Bailey.
Dora Lott – Feb. 6, 1936 – Feb. 13, 2024
Dora LaVerne Morris Lott, 88, of Jackson passed away Feb. 13, 2024, at Brookdale Jackson Oaks in Jackson. Funeral services were 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 17, at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Crook Avenue with Pastor Tim Bass officiating. Burial followed at Clarks Creek Cemetery. The family received friends at Crook Avenue from 5-8 p.m. on Friday.
She was born Feb. 6, 1936, in Chester County, near Jacks Creek, daughter of the late Jodie William and Flora Lee Jordan Morris. She attended Chester County Schools.
She married Leonard Lott in 1954. They made their home in Vero Beach, Fla., for 35 years. Mr. Lott passed away in 2016; after his death, she moved to Jackson.
She was a homemaker and an avid reader and was a member of Meridian Baptist Church.
She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved her family dearly.
She is survived by son, Robin (Gail Spain, Fiancée) Lott of Jackson; stepson, Larry (Jeanne) Payne of Okeechobee, Fla.; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and three brothers, Roy Morris of Henderson, Jerry Morris and Joe Morris both of Jackson.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, and three brothers, Edward, Earl and Gene Morris.
Terry Pierce – March 10, 1963 – Feb. 16, 2024
Mr. Terry Pierce, 60, of Henderson, died Friday evening, Feb. 16, 2024 at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.
Funeral services were 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 19, at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Crook Avenue Chapel with Pastor Mike Kelley officiating.
Burial followed at Chapel Hill Baptist Church Cemetery in Lexington. The family receives friends at Crook Avenue from noon until 2 p.m. service time on Monday.
He was born in Nashville on March 10, 1963.
