RANDALL ROSS – April 8, 1964 – June 8, 2024
Robert Randall Ross, 60, of Henderson passed away June 8, 2024, at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, June 13, at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Crook Avenue with Bro. Ken Frye officiating. Burial will follow at Finger Cemetery. The family received friends at Crook Avenue from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday.
He was born April 8, 1964, in Jackson, the son of Robert Franklin Ross and Barbara Ann Russom Worsham. He grew up in Henderson and was a 1982 graduate of Chester County High School. He earned an Electrical Certificate from TCAT in Jackson and became a licensed Electrician.
He worked as a maintenance electrician for Columbus McKinnon in Lexington for 21 years. He was a member of Masonic Lodge 485 in Henderson. He loved to hunt all kinds of game. He was proud of his grandchildren.
He is survived by his mother, Barbara Ann (James) Russom Worsham; his father, Robert Franklin “Frankie” Ross; a daughter, Sarah Jordan Frost of Beech Bluff; two grandchildren, Briar Frost and Kaylee Frost; and his sister, Lynette (John) Gullett of Atwood.
JANIE ROLAND – June 4, 2024
Dorothy ‘Janie’ Hardin Jones Roland, 94, of Henderson passed away on June 4, 2024, at the Henderson Health and Rehabilitation Center, with daughter, Patsy and granddaughter, Sherry at her side. Sherry had her favorite song, “Beulah Land,” playing on the phone. She passed from complications of liver cancer. Funeral services were 11 a.m. Saturday, June 8, at Shackelford Funeral Directors – East Main Chapel with Bro. Anthony Rowland and Bro. Brent Pearce officiating. Burial followed at Cave Springs Cemetery. The family received friends at East Main from 5-8 p.m. on Friday. Pallbearers to serve were Lucas Holland, Billy Ray Jones, Tommy and Timmy Fullington, Johnny Street and Todd Beaver. Honorary were Jerry Maybury, Thomas Lynn Price, David and Gary Hardin.
She was the oldest of eight children to Claude and Allene Pipkin Hardin. She married J.G. Jones in 1949. Tommy, Patsy, Eddie and Christy are their children along with Bobby Joe and Billy Frank Jones from J.G.’s previous marriage. They were divorced in 1966. In the late 1960s, she then married Howard Roland and gained three stepdaughters, Susie, Rachel, and Gina. She and Howard made their home in Henderson. Howard passed away in 1994.
She was retired from International Paper serving 26 years. She also worked at Oakley Fashions and Jackson Furniture Company. After retirement she was a caregiver to several families in and around Henderson.
She could crochet and quilt just about anything you put in front of her. Many a day she would make up her own patterns. Mildred Price was her crocheting friend for over 50 years. Those two could tell us all a few stories. She was a member of Palestine Baptist Church. She also had two sons and two stepsons to serve in the military.
She is survived by daughters, Christy Jones of Henderson and Patsy Fullington of Beech Bluff; son, Eddie (Kathy) Jones of Cedar Grove; sister, Mary Lee Laster of Jackson; brothers, Gary Hardin of Bartlett and David Hardin of Jackson; 10 grandchildren; 16 step-grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren; and 30 plus of five sets of generations.
She was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; sister, Annie Mae Markham; brothers, James Robert, Charles and Noah Hardin; son, Tommy Jones; stepsons, Bobby Joe and Billy Frank Jones; great-grandson, James Edward Maybury; and son-in-law, Thomas Fullington.
