Richy Joe Butler, 69, of Henderson passed away Jan. 23, 2023 at Green Crest Assisted Living in Parsons.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 26, at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Crook Avenue with Chris Warren officiating.
Burial will follow in Estes Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Crook Avenue from 5-8 p.m. on Wednesday.
He was born March 13, 1953, in Henderson, the son of the late Joe Wilbern and Lessie Lorraine Smith Butler. He grew up at Mifflin and Henderson and attended Chester County Schools. He married Jacquita Hames in 1977.
He went to work at International Paper/Duro Bag and worked there 40 years. He suffered a stroke in 2017 and subsequently retired in 2018.
He loved horseback riding, reading, gardening and watching his grandkids play ball. He enjoyed the outdoors.
He is survived by his wife, Jacquita Marie Hames Butler of 45 years; a son, Adam (Stephanie) Butler of Henderson; two grandchildren, Tyler Richy Butler and Olivia Madison Butler; two brothers, Randy Butler of Henderson and Russ Butler of Milledgeville; and two sisters, Renee Malone of Henderson and Renita Warren of Parsons.
