Robert “Bobby” Oden dies

On Nov. 30, 2021, Robert “Bobby” David Oden passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by family in Henderson.
Born Nov. 1, 1933, and raised in Bogalusa, La., the son of the late William Oden and Velma Russell Oden, he married the late Patricia Dorman Oden in 1952. They made their home in Bogalusa until 1975 when they mobbed to Metairie, La. There they continued to raise their family until 1982. Then he moved to Baton Rouge, La. He and his wife of 57 years moved to Henderson in 1989.
Mr. Oden worked for Gaylord Container in Bogalusa after serving in the United States Navy. He then ran the family service stations and convenience store before retiring in 1998. He was Baptist.
His hobbies were fishing, working in his yard, cooking and playing with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mr. Oden is survived by his four daughters, Patricia “Dawn” Allen (Sidney), Sheryl “Sherry” Brooks (Bill), Tracie Guggenheim (Jim), Tonya “Jill” Egros (Ronny); 15 grandchildren: David Allen, Toby Allen, Robert Allen, Lane Allen, Coral Newton, Christina Brooks, Chris Brooks, Callie Brooks, Candace McGuire, Cathryn Lowther, Charles Brooks, Meredith Guggenheim, Andrew Guggenheim, Joseph Egros and William Egros; a brother, Jon Dale Oden; a sister, Rebecca “Becky” June Bebe; numerous great-grandchildren and other family and friends.
He was preceded in death by four sisters and one brother.
