ROVENE THOMAS Obituary – Aug. 4, 1918 – Nov. 25, 2019

Rovene Nance Thomas, 101, of Henderson passed away Nov. 25, 2019 at Henderson Health & Rehabilitation Center. Funeral services were 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 27, at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Crook Avenue with Glenn Harris officiating. Burial followed in Chester County Memory Gardens. The family received friends at Crook Avenue from 5-8 p.m. on Tuesday.
She was born Aug. 4, 1918 in Montezuma, Chester County, the daughter of the late Clyde and Leota Wade Nance. She grew up in the Montezuma Community and attended Montezuma School. She married Cecil Thomas in Oct. 1940. They were married 48 years and lived on a farm until his death in May 17, 1988. In 1994 she moved in with her daughter. She was a member of the Montezuma Methodist Church.
She worked as a supervisor for Salant & Salant for 38 years and in the Chester County School System for 14 years. She enjoyed working in the yard in her flowers and knitting.
She is survived by a daughter, Nancy Thomas of Henderson; two grandchildren, Cristy (Jeff) Morris of Rutherford and Lisa Shipman of Henderson; six great-grandchildren, Drew Lott, Sydney Shipman, Nick Shipman and Kendal Shipman all of Henderson and Michael Morris and Cecily Morris of Rutherford; a great-great-grandchild, Kane Morris of Rutherford; and a brother, Raymond Nance of Panama City Beach, Fla.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Clyde and Leota Nance; her husband, Cecil Thomas; and two sisters, Marene Marsh and Olera Asbridge.
