State Senator Page Walley (R-Savannah) recently announced that the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation is awarding Chester County $101,115 for solid waste management convenience centers and used automotive oil collections. These grants encourage and support local communities in meeting solid waste and recycling goals.
“I want to recognize the officials in Chester County for all the hard work they have put in to receive this funding,” said Walley. “Without their hard work, none of this would be possible. This funding allows for multiple projects to happen, including receiver boxes with installation and shipping.”
“We are fortunate to have communities across our state who are committed to responsible waste management,” TDEC Commissioner David Salyers said. “These grants assist in efforts to make environmental protection steps as easy as possible.”
The grant programs encourage and support local communities in meeting solid waste and recycling goals. Beneficiaries can use the grants to build/upgrade convenience centers as well as replace and eliminate green boxes. Awardees were required to apply and were approved for upgrades and recycling.
