Sheila Elder Cox, 77, went home to be with her Savior Jesus Christ late in the evening Friday, March 13, 2020.
She was born in Jackson in 1942. She grew up in Jackson and graduated from Jackson High School in 1960.
She also graduated from Union University in 1964, and while she was a student, there she met her husband Carl Cox, Jr. They were married 45 years until Carl’s passing. They had one child, a daughter Jennifer Cox Evans.She was an active member of Poplar Heights Baptist Church. She loved to knit, cook and spend time in God’s WORD, and she loved to spend time with her three grandchildren. She also loved to travel and was so excited about that great-grandbaby. She had an effervescent smile that would light up the room.
She is survived by her loving daughter Jennifer (Billy) Evans; her three grandchildren, Evan, Noah and Emily Rogers; and her first great-grandchild, born in Nov. 2020.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Cox, Jr.; her parents, James and Ramelle Nobles Elder; and her grandparents, Oscar and Effie Rhodes Nobles.
