SONNY RUSSELL Obituary – Jan. 20, 1944 – Feb. 3, 2023

Dubert Taylor Russell, 79, of Finger passed away Feb. 3, 2023, at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital. Funeral services were 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 7, at Shackelford Funeral Directors-Crook Avenue. Burial followed in Chester County Memory Gardens. The family received friends at Crook Avenue from noon-2 p.m. service time on Tuesday. 
He was born Jan. 20, 1944, in Henderson, the son of the late Tillman Taylor Russell and Exie Lee Robinson Farrow. He grew up in Henderson during his early youth then moved to Memphis during Junior High School. He married Liz Hawn on Sept. 18, 1982.
He began his career in carpentry and homebuilding in Memphis then moved to Joliet, Ill., in 1967 and began working for himself as an independent contractor. He retired in 2001 and he and his wife Liz moved to Finger.
He enjoyed using his carpentry skills to build many projects. He enjoyed his pets and was a competitive card player. He also enjoyed NASAR and was a big UT Vols football fan.
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Ann Hawn Russell of Finger; two daughters, Donna Lee (Glenn) Hatchett of Columbus, Ind., and Laura Kaye Bland of Camby, Ind.; three grandchildren, Eryn Taylor Bland, Collin Robert Hatchett and Connor Michael Bland; one great-grandchild, Jaxon David Czmyr; two sisters, Claudia (Mitch) Mitchell of Rome, Ga., and Carolyn Mayfield of Henderson; two sister-in-laws, Judith Russell and Loretta (Danny) Maness of Finger; and several nieces and nephews.  
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Elvis Michael Russell.
