The 6U Boys Chester County All Stars Baseball team represented the Chester County community well at the dixie state tournament.
They were undefeated during pool play with a 17-2 win over Etowah and a 17-9 win over Kingston. Then, they started bracket play with a great win over East Hickman, 24-9. Following that game, they had a tough game against Adams but fought hard after being down 10-0 in the fourth inning and came back and won 13-12.
Chester Co. gained another win in the game versus Springfield, 14-4. Unfortunately, they lost the next game 20-12 to Pleasant View.
Their next game was versus district competition, Dyersburg, and it resulted in a 10-1 win that advanced them to the top three teams of the tournament.
Their state tourney ended after playing Pleasant View again, 17-7.
The 7/8 Chester County Boys All Stars team competed in the state tournament last week and made it all the way to the top four of the state.
They played in pool play on Thursday and Friday with wins over Etowah and Kingston on Thursday and a loss to Greenbriar Friday.
Later on Friday, they started bracket play with a 13-2 win over Crossville.
On Saturday, they earned another “W” versus Fairview 12-11.
In another game against Greenbriar, they could not defeat them and lost by one 3-2.
On Sunday they lost the game that would knock them out of the tournament while ranked fourth in the state. It was a close game against Springfield, 3-2.
The Chester County 9/10 All Stars competed in the district tournament last week. Though they did not win, they still were recognized and given the Sportsmanship Award.
This past weekend at Malesus Park in Jackson, the Chester County Ponytails wiped out all of their opponents in the state tournament to advance to the World Series on July 20-23 in Prince George County, Virginia. The smallest score margin in their games was 18, and they won the championship 22-0.
Mid-South Conference Officials announced Wednesday that Freed-Hardeman’s Garrett Clouse has earned the “Above and Beyond” Award for Outstanding Service in Athletic Training.
Clouse earns the award for the first time in his career.
Following the departure of Coach Mike Showers, Chris Melton has accepted the position of CCHS Tennis Coach. Coach Melton is a 1993 graduate of CCHS and played tennis from 1990-1993.
The Chester County Sweetees will be traveling to Monroe, Louisiana next week to compete in the Dixie Sweetees 5/6 Girls World Series.
They shut out Madison South 21-0 on the first day of the state tournament.
They had two close games to Savannah on Saturday and Sunday with scores of 16-11 and 21-20, respectively.
The wins advanced them to the championship game versus their first opponent, Madison South, which was another shutout victory of 20-1 to result in the Chester County Sweetees being named the state champions.
While most of the Freed-Hardeman University faithful will be cheering for the United States in the upcoming Olympics, the 3x3 Women’s Basketball Tournament will see many Lady Lion fans root for Spain.

After the release of EA Sports College Football 25 last week, Chester County native Chad Barham is able to do something no other Chester Countian can say they have done before, play as himself in the game.
Barham signed on with Troy University on April 26 to be a part of their football program as a tight end. With Troy University being a team you can choose in the game, you can find Barham on the roster under tight end.
