The Henderson Beer Board met immediately following the city board meeting Thursday evening, Feb. 9. The Beer Board held a show cause hearing due to a local violation. An employee of Zippy’s, 3825 US Hwy 45 North, was accused of having sold alcoholic beverages to a minor.
According to Police Chief Gary Davidson, the HPD conducted a sting on Dec. 15, 2022 in which an undercover 20-year-old attempted to purchase alcohol from each store locally that sells alcohol. The employee pled guilty in General Sessions Court.
This is the first violation Zippy’s has had under this ownership, a period of about five years, City Recorder Jim Garland said.
The Beer Board voted unanimously to fine Zippy’s $1,500 in accordance with the first offense standard procedure, and per the owner’s choice of a fine or 30-day license suspension.
