Chester County Head Basketball Coach Tarius Johnson was honored last week by his Alma Mater Liberty Tech in Jackson by having his jersey number retired.
Johnson was a star baskeball player at Liberty, garnering many accolades during his four-year career.

The CCHS Girls and Boys lost both games in the final game of regular season against the Lexington Tigers. The girls were defeated 22-47 and the boys lost 35-52. They advance to the district tournament this week. In girls’ action, the Eaglettes held them on in the first quarter with baskets by Karlie Heinsohn and Brooke Ketchum. They were down by two as the first quarter came to an end, 6-8.
JuJu Prather found the hoop in the second, as she was fouled while shooting. The basket counted and she was able to add two free throws. The score at the break was 10-25 as Lexington widened the margin. The Eaglettes were only able to muster four points in the third with baskets by Ketchum and Kloe Taylor. The Lady Tigers’ lead was 15-40 at the end of three. Prather provided five points in the final period and Esther Osburn provided another two. At the buzzer the Eaglettes were defeated 22-47.
Prather led the scoring with eight points followed by Ketchum with six, Heinsohn with four and Osburn and Taylor contributed two apiece. The fate of the boys’ team was like the girls. Lexington jumped on top in the first quarter 14-6 and the Eagles were never able to recover. Aiden Welch, Jayden Williams and Christian Swift accounted for the scoring. The Eagles were trailing by eight. The Tigers lead continued to grow in the second quarter, up by 12 at the intermission. Williams, Christian Halford and Swift put six on the scoreboard. The Eagles were able to add 13 points in the third on baskets by Welch, Williams and Halford. but trailed 25-39 by quarter’s end. The Eagles added 11 points in the final quarter but came up 17 points short at the buzzer, losing 35-52. Leading the Eagles in scoring was Welch with 12, Williams and Halford with eight and Swift with five.
Volleyball at Chester County High School has gotten underway, hosting the Lexington Lady Tigers last week. The Junior Eaglettes were defeated in two sets 22-25 and 14-25. Pictured is Aayla Howell as she readies to serve.
