Hello to everyone reading this paper. It is always a blessing to be part of your life. Why? Because you are my family and friends! I am excited the Lord has allowed us to be together one more time. For this is the day the Lord has made, so why not just rejoice and be glad in it? Thank you for taking the time to read the Chester County Independent. I have said this before and I am saying it again. No, it is not USA Today, The Wall Street Journal, Newsday, The Washington Post, Star Tribune or The Jackson Sun just to name a few. Our small-town paper is read by many around the world. So to the staff of the Independent, keep up the great work! The City of Henderson appreciates you! We enjoy reading our newspaper, and it is growing.
I hope you and your family had a wonderful time during the Holy Week and on Easter Sunday.
On Saturday, the day before Easter, there was a lovely celebration in loving memory of Mrs. Mary Armstrong. Brother Larry Ivery did the Eulogy. He did a wonderful job! Mary was the mother to seven children and had 23 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Mary also had a host of friends. She will be missed but not forgotten! The family of Mrs. Mary Armstrong would like to thank loved ones and friends for their support. Some know what it is like when the Lord calls our Mother home!
Do not forget about the Fentanyl Awareness Day on April 29. There will be FREE OVERDOSE PREVENTION TRAINING! The speaker for the training is Mark Mason. Everyone is welcome to attend! Starting at 6 p.m. on the second floor of Henderson City Hall, 121 Crook Avenue, Henderson. Additional speakers are Sheriff Mark Griffin, Chester County Sheriff’s Department; Gloria Holiday, Family Engagement Assistant Manager, Head Start; Danielle McHaney, Health Educator, Chester County Health Department and member from the 26th Judicial Drug Task Force. I hope your schedule will allow you to attend this noteworthy cause. There will free Narcan Kits and you will receive a certificate for the training.
The city would like to say Happy Birthday to everyone who had a birthday this week! God bless you with many more. The city would like to take this time to wish all of our loved ones in the Henderson Health and Rehabilitation Center who had a birthday this week a HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
Let us continue to pray for the family and millions of people around the world are mourning the news of Pope Francis’s passing. His life was devoted to God, to people and to the Church! Remember to pray for our children, teachers and families, the sick and shut in, our men and women that are serving our country and the incarcerated. Do not forget to patronize with our local businesses here in town; let us try to support our own as much as we can.
If you live in the City of Henderson and have news about your family, birthday, anniversary, announcements, and things happening in the City, I need to hear from you. Call me at 608-6132 and leave your message.
Thought for today – “DO YOU KNOW YOU ARE ALREADY AMAZING? THE LORD IS HERE TO LET YOU KNOW YOU ARE!”
