Hello to all from this little corner of the world. The sky was gray Sunday, and the temperature was 52 degrees. It rained as I wrote this. Our son has a rain gauge, and he has recorded between 13.5-14 inches over four days not including Sunday. It will be days before it dries out enough to mow or do yard work. We have had an overabundance of rain. The trees are really “greening” up. Birds are visiting. Our beautiful white dogwood is showing out among the background of green foliage. Our tulip magnolia has bloomed, and I would enjoy some more forsythia.
We have had torrential storms. We, along with other counties, have roads that are washed out. Schools in some counties were cancelled for several days due to the storms. Selmer was hit by an EF3 tornado. It is very sad to see the devastation occur anywhere, but this was close to home, affecting our neighbors. Please pray for all affected by this weather and pray for those assisting in recovery and helping those affected by the storms in any way.
Condolences to all who have lost loved ones.
Happy birthday to Kacey Pratt, 4-10, and John Thomas Wells, 4-12.

“Hope” by Diane Ranker Riesen: “Hope creates a privilege/to be aware that dreams come true/It gives us great encouragement/that other helps are ‘new’/When I feel down and feel forlorn/that all my hope is gone/I always try to think upon/advances that are done/Medicine is quite a gift/and God provides the way/for all the new advances/that are out there now today/For those of you who worry/and it’s surely understood/I pray you learn how ‘Medicine’/is doing all it should/The journey of an illness/overwhelms in every way/and it takes a lot of courage/to be positive each day/But, God is ever gracious and He’s given us great men/who study, learn, and work/to find the answer He will send/May ‘hope’ provide you comfort/when a dark day comes along/may the progress made in medicine/remain to keep you strong/And may your patience, Faith, and strength/bring peace into your soul/and in God’s perfect timing/His reward will surely show/Sometimes, things just don’t work the way/our hearts have asked them to/but, during your tough journey/God will always stay with you/He knows what’s right and in the end/His answer will be best/God’s perfect mercy understands/and He will do the rest.”
I pray you all have a wonderful week and may it be filled with love, joy, peace and blessings. Remember: if you have news, please email me at mimmiepots@gmail.com. I would truly appreciate any news. People from here and those who have moved from our area but still want to keep in touch through the newspaper are hungry for news from home.
Until next week, Happy Trails to You.
