Hey ya’ll, the weather is changing so get those sweaters out. It has been cooler in the mornings, and I even turned on my heat for awhile. A cold front is predicted later in the week and looks like our lows will be in the 30’s a few nights.

The HCC’s fall festival begins at 11 a.m. this coming Saturday, Oct. 19. Please come out and help support our center. The menu will include white beans, pinto beans, slaw, regular and Mexican cornbread and a drink for $5. There will also be a dessert table available. There will be a silent auction, cake auction and a cake walk. It should be a good day for fun and fellowship, so come on out and enjoy yourself!

It was another great week for me. Not only did I have my son and his wife here, but later in the week, my grandson Drew, his wife Melissa and my great-granddaughters Emma (almost two) and Savannah (almost two months) from Illinois visited for a few days. It was a good visit with all of them, and I sure enjoyed seeing Emma again and meeting Savannah for the first time.

Happy Birthday to those celebrating October birthdays: Kathleen Mullins (Oct. 7), Kelsey Tummins (Oct. 8), Lonnie Morton (Oct. 9) and Nelson Weaver (Oct. 12). Also, a late Happy Anniversary to Nelson and Janice Weaver on Oct. 8.

If you would like to rent the center for your special event, please call Nancy Patterson at 608-1159.

Remember in prayer: Ricky Hearn, Elvie Lee Sanders, Arlan Porter, Walt and Ann Bennett, Richy Butler, Ronnie and Ladelle Clark, Mildred Smith, Mary Alice and Martha Autry, Ann Morrison, Bonice Martin, Erma Lee Morris, Peggy Whitman, Sue Greene, Jim Ruth, W.T Roland, Peggy Lard, William Maness and all the caregivers. If you would like to add or remove a name, please call me. Sympathy goes out to the family of Doris Naylor Weaver. Doris was such an excellent example of the Christian life. She recently reached out to me with compassion and friendship, and I sure appreciated it. A true friend is one who reaches for your hand and touches your heart. I will certainly miss her.

“Our strength is from God. He steals into our hearts in time of sorrow and will help to heal our broken hearts.” (unknown).

Have a great week.
