Hello everyone! I am so happy to have cooler weather. We enjoyed a very good rain Friday. Saturday was another gorgeous, sunny day compliments of God. He knew we would be bored with one season. All seasons have their purpose.

Many will be trying to prepare for winter. They will do things at home such as wrap windows and pipes, drain outside water hoses, fill bird feeders, mulch or start raking leaves and trim bushes. Others will winterize their cars, checking the antifreeze, air in tires, windshield wipers and quality of tires. I saw a car that had tires that were slicked bald the other day. Scary. We still have time, but it is time to get started.

Yay! Schools are out for fall break. I know the students and staff are going to enjoy this break. We went to a birthday party for our sweet great-niece Pepper Elaine Pounds. She is the big one year old. Precious. Several “baby” friends and parents were there. Her birthday was a “pancake” birthday party, and she loves whipped cream! She received lots of different gifts. She loves books and balls for sure. Pepper is my sister Kathy’s granddaughter. God is sooo good to have spared Kathy from a serious illness. She is still in recovery but is doing great and is able to enjoy her grandbaby. We are so very humbled and grateful to the Lord for His everlasting mercy.

Happy birthday to Don Holmes, Oct. 14; Ally Morris, Oct. 16; and Debbie Ward and Larry Bray, Oct. 17.

Please continue to remember these in prayer: Lynn Allen, Jerry Bain, Charlie Brewer, David Brewer, Janis Brewer, Kay Burton, Leon Carroll, Jackie Chambers, Billy Dickson, Bro. Glenn and Judy Harris, Eddie Hill, Danny Jones, Johnny Joyner, Kathleen Kilzer, Lee Nell King, Billy Frank Latham, Sarah McLemore, Nancy McCaskill, Pam Priddy, James Reddin, Doris and Donald Rowlett, Dalton Seratt and Trey Young. Also, please pray for our military, law enforcement, our country and its leaders, first responders and the people affected by the fires out west. Please remember in prayer the families and friends of Steve Burton, Mark Wilson, Carolyn Graves and Gerald Pritchard. They fought the good fight and are now at rest. There are many sick and hurting. Please say a prayer for those. Even if you do not know their name, God does.

“There’s a Hope” by Diane Ranker Riesen - “There’s a hope that no one sees - a ‘shallow’ to the deep/a promise hidden safe inside - that everyone can keep/a Higher, Mighty Power that waits for each to use/that longs to ease your weaknesses with strength that you can/This Power doesn’t stand out strong…it lingers soft like sleep/and when you stretch your hands to it - it gives you hope to keep/Sometimes things get so damaged, and our hearts need help to heal/yet, when we call in need of peace…there comes some strength to feel/This Power comes from praying - and from “Faith” that will not break/God’s always there to hear you…and comfort every ache/Such strong faith can seem hard to keep when everything is wrong/but it’s the very thing you need…to help your soul stay strong/Call out to God in times of need - your words will all be heard/above the loudest noise of pain…Our God will hear each word/Father, take my burdens…may I give You all my fears/lift our world and clear the dark -Your love can dry our tears.”

I pray you all have a wonderful week, and may it be filled with love, joy, peace and blessings. Remember: if you have news, please call me at 983-0718 or email mimmiepots@gmail.com. I would truly appreciate any news. People from here and those who have moved from our area are hungry for news from home. Until next week, Happy Trails to You.
