Coordinated School Health (in collaboration with the Chester County High School Nursing class and Public Health Educator, Danielle McHaney) recently conducted Health Screenings at Jacks Creek Elementary School. This initiative serves students in kindergarten and second grade whose parents have given consent.
Health Screenings are a vital component of Coordinated School Health’s mission to promote student well-being and academic success across the district. A total of 88.89% of Jacks Creek Kindergarten and second grade students were screened. These screenings play a critical role in bridging the gap between health and academics. These school-based screenings are essential in promoting wellness, detecting potential health impairments, and preventing future health issues that could hinder students’ academic progress.
The screenings in Chester County included measurements of height, weight, hearing, vision, and blood pressure. During the event McHaney emphasized the importance of healthy habits, educating students on how maintaining their health can help them become better learners in the classroom. By identifying health concerns early, schools can facilitate timely interventions, ensuring that students remain healthy and ready to learn.
