The Chester County Historical Society met Oct. 3 at the Senior Center. The speaker was John Talbot who spoke about a successful free man of color, Ichabod Brown, who lived around the Finger area in the 1840s and 1850s. He owned a grist mill, bought shares in the new Mobile and Ohio Railroad and was on good business terms with his white neighbors. Talbot is continuing research on this successful area resident.
